• Values Dissonance: The Captain talks about homosexuality being worse than drug addiction. Friday and Gannon agree with him. At the time homosexuality was illegal in most states, where today gay marriage is legal in the US. He also talks about how God is dead and how times have been changing. There is also the implied that Bobby is going to get whipped by his father when he gets home, with punishment like this being a form of child abuse with today's views.
  Capt. Lou Richey: What it boils down to is the new morality, doesn't it, a new set of values. God is dead. Drug addiction is mind expanding. Promiscuity is glamorous. Even homosexuality is praiseworthy. How you gonna fight that?
