- Awesome Music: Even the 8-bit limitations of the Game Boy's hardware can't stop songs like "Stickerbrush Symphony" or "Flight of the Zinger" from sounding as majestic as ever, especially with the legendary Grant Kirkhope in charge of the soundtrack.
- Contested Sequel: While many prefer Donkey Kong Land 2 over the first game due to its superior controls and clearer visuals, others prefer the first Donkey Kong Land for its more detailed sprite work and original levels, whereas this game consists solely of levels copied from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.
- That One Level: Slime Climb is much harder than its Donkey Kong Country 2 counterpart, due to the smaller screen resolution and water damaging you on contact due to Snapjaw unable to be implemented.
- Scrappy Mechanic: Much like Donkey Kong Land, if you fall down the screen too quickly in a vertical scrolling level, the game thinks you fell down a Bottomless Pit and counts it as losing a life.
