YMMV / Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem

• Broken Base: While many people were generally fine with this replacing Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast, some Universal Studios Hollywood fans have been a bit more displeased with this replacing Terminator 2 3-D: Battle Across Time. It received even more backlash for replacing Back to the Future: The Ride at Universal Studios Japan, as it was the last operating iteration of the attraction.
• Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Ever since it opened there, the ride has proven to be extremely popular at Universal Studios Japan, as on weekends it regularly gets wait times of over 200 minutes. It's also extremely popular in Japan merchandise-wise, as it manages to outsell even Harry Potter in terms of merchandise.
• Heartwarming Moments: The ending of the ride, where Gru saves the girls from the dangers of his own laboratory and then celebrates with them their first anniversary of being a family.
  Agnes: You remembered!
  Gru: How could I forget the most important day of my life?
• Nightmare Fuel: The girls almost getting killed by the anti-gravity garbage disposal, and only by the luckiest of circumstances do they get out alive. Special mention goes to Agnes deliberately putting herself in danger to retrieve the anniversary present she lost in the chaos.

  • Heck, the storyline of the ride itself! Gru is recruiting people to become Minions and work for him. This obviously has polarized some people, especially Minion haters. As AniMat put it:
  "Of course, a lot of people would be put off by this concept. In fact, some would even believe that the idea of turning into a Minion is much scarier than anything Universal could think up for Halloween Horror Nights."
• They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: The removal of the 3D makes the ride less immersive.
• Win Back the Crowd: People that were disappointed with the previous Jimmy Neutron attraction were generally much more pleased with this ride.
