YMMV / Dawn of the New World Order

Go To

  • Harsher in Hindsight: As part of the plan to destroy China and become independent, Hong Kong influences his people to suddenly engage in mass riots, attacking mainland Chinese, storming government buildings, cursing the mainland China and demanding independence. Cut to months later after the chapters describing the situation were uploaded and when the Hong Kong protests break out, and this subplot either becomes this or hilarious to read.

  • Ho Yay: God, there's enough of it to possibly get its own page.
    • Many of Switzerland's inner monologues regarding Austria and his flashback taking place during Austria and Hungary's weidding raise a few questions...
    • Finland always looks particularly smug whenever Sweden agrees with something he says.
    • It's been mentioned that Turkey, Iran and Saudi Arabia are so close that Prussia's worried that Bulgaria might one day kill the latter two.
    • Bulgaria's affectionate nature towards Lithuania.
    • Macau and Morocco's interactions in Hong Kong's segment in the second flashback chapter. It needs to be read to be believed.
    • Brazil's possessiveness of Portugal, while of course creepy, is practically on Yandere levels and he keeps going on about how his former colonizer will love him. But then there's the revelation that Brazil wants Portugal to replace his dead father Tupi...
    • Almost every interaction Morocco has with a male nation is dripping with this. Not surprising, considering who he is.

  • Nausea Fuel: The author really likes being descriptive even in torture or less than pleasant scenarios, the France torture scene is a notable example.

  • Squick:
    • Anytime the African Five engage in cannibalism or express their desire for it.
    • The ex-French colonies torture of France. You need to read it to believe it.
    • Bulgaria's... erm... slavish devotion to Turkey.
    • Morocco making out with a drugged Mauritius, and using his current susceptibility to suggestion to convince him to participate. It's clear that poor Mauritius isn't really enjoying the whole thing. Having it told from the blunt and indifferent perspective of Cameroon doesn't make it much better.
    • Speaking of Morocco, it's plain disturbing whenever he expresses his desire for his brother, subtle is not his strong suit. Even more squicky is what happens whenever Morocco has Tunisia to himself.
    • The descriptions of the state a large part of Brussels after CAR's cannibalistic rampage. Thankfully the author didn't go into too much detail, but the implications are just as horrifying to imagine.
