YMMV / Dark Lord Jadow 1

Go To

  • Aluminum Christmas Trees: In his review of the Superman 64 prequel comic, he briefly imitates Lex Luthor singing a song about Superman. Several commenters thought he made up the song himself, but the lyrics are from Jimmy Olsen's Blues by Spin Doctors.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Several episodes contained either a mention of Jadow's ex-girlfriend, or a picture of her as a desktop background. A part of the Space Camp review is a cathartic attempt to overcome his sadness at his breakup with his ex, and he decides to move forward and improve himself as a closing monologue. It can make some of those earlier episodes somewhat sad knowing this now.
  • He Panned It, Now He Sucks!: While he did get some hate for his negative reviews of the NES Metroid and Pokemon Stadium 2, the most divisive review on his channel is his No Man's Sky Review. He even references the hateful comments he received in his top ten worse games he's reviewed volume 2 list where he doubles down on his frustration of the game by pointing out his Twitter got hacked and he received numerous angry rants and threats for a simple opinion, making his opinion of the game even worse.
  • Nightmare Fuel: When Jadow gets trapped in the Dark Dimension in his Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows reviews, the entity. The especially scary part is the implication that the entity has been trapping people in the dimension for years, forcing them to play crappy games until they kill themselves.
    • The "entity" is Buried Alive/Buryman from the Lavender Town Syndrome Creepypasta. Jadow deduces- by the original creepypasta story- that he takes his victim's lives by tormenting them into suicide.
    • The logs in the Air Control review, watching a reviewer we enjoy and love descend into madness.
    • The plot of Episode 200 has him desperately trying to overpower Sonic.exe. Jadow has apparently died to him multiple times only to revive with the memory of death on his couch, and the only way to escape the room he is trapped in and be done with this is to defeat EXE at least once.
  • Special Effects Failure: To be fair, he is doing this on little-to-no budget.
  • Tear Jerker: No thanks to Pokemon Stadium 2, he lost a Pikachu he got particularly attached to. It's just pixels on a screen but still we've all been there...
    • This becomes extra pogient to anyone who has played one of the original Pokemon games. The thought of losing your first Pokemon is bad enough. Losing it before its time is just too cruel.
    • In the Space Camp review, he reveals that he and his girlfriend broke up. He even has bittersweet memories of some of the things the two of them did.
