• Alternate Character Interpretation: The motives of the Chapter 2 Killer. Did David really have the group's best intentions by killing off Miharu to test the validity of the "graduation" promise aswell as throwing Ryohei's revenge scheme off the rails? Or was he genuinely selfish in wanting to escape and was all to willing to have everyone killed as a result?
• Americans Hate Tingle: Ryohei has something of a hatebase in the Western fandom due to his police officer occupation as a result of Real Life events in the West. It also doesn't help that in the second trial, he wanted to uphold his warped vision of justice by persecuting Tachihaki while labeling everyone else as sacrifices to uphold said justice.
• Foe Yay Shipping: After the second trial, fanart for Ryohei and Tachihaki began to rise thanks to how popular their rivalry is.
• Ho Yay: Konoe is often paired with either Chisa or Marin. It helps that Konoe frequently hangs out with the two of them and enjoys their company.
• Narm Charm: During the second trial, Konoe randomly lists more than 20 flavors of ice cream. The reason? She vowed to give 100 reasons as to why Tachihaki should not allow himself to kill himself by accepting defeat. And many of those reasons involve taking her out to eat those flavors.
• Older Than They Think: When Danganronpa Kill/Cure first came out, people considered Chikuma Konishi to be the first fat girl in a Fangan Ronpa series. However, considering that DR TheAfter came before Kill/Cure, that honor belongs to Coco Hashizawa.

• Unpopular Popular Character: Ryohei's popularity among his peers went down the toilet after displaying his ruthlessness and daring ingenuity in the second trial. On the flip side, it's because of these reasons, along with how they add depth to his ideals towards justice, is what led to his popularity to skyrocket in the Japanese fandom.
