YMMV / Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel

  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: It was successful in Japan for sure, but European viewers went crazy over it. In the 80s, Italian and French little girls were seized with the compulsion to take wooden sticks, lift them and yell an unintelligible incantation in hopes of becoming charismatic older girls.
  • Older Than They Think: This show predates the American series Jem (which has a somewhat similar conceptnote ) by two years.
  • Periphery Demographic: Despite being aimed at young girls, the anime gained a notable increase of older male fans after it first aired. It was to such an extent that male mecha fans, of all people, became big fans; several doujinshi fanzines of an AU Mami as a Robot Girl in a sc-fi setting were made. A promo short for a video game of this fan version was made by some of the fans who were just entering the anime industry at the time.
  • Unintentional Period Piece: The show serves as a reflection of 1980s Japanese idol culture in many ways.
