YMMV / Cory in the House

Go To

  • Adaptation Displacement: The memes surrounding the game, combined with the show having been off the air for quite some time, has ensured that at least some people who heard of the series did so because of the game.
  • Awesome Music:
    • The intro to the show is very catchy. Having an upbeat choir, who manage to sell the song. This, along with Kyle Massey doing a great job rapping to the entire song, makes for one of the most memorable theme songs made for a Disney Channel show.
    • There’s also "Rollin to DC", the expositional song from the teaser trailer.
    • Cory's band DC3 also has some pretty good songs.
  • Cult Classic: Despite being short-lived, the show has pretty much still remained in the public consciousness due to its memetic value. Two stand out memes being ironically referring to the show as a "great anime", or a random electoral candidate from anywhere replacing Cory being "In the House" in the show's title card if they win an election or if the idea of them winning an election would be hilarious. American elections in particular renew memes associated with the show.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: In one Disney Channel Asia special, a young fangirl gets to meet Kyle Massey in Hollywood and have lunch with him. While sweet and heartwarming at the time, today the special just seems creepy in light of allegations that Kyle Massey was sending sexual inappropriate images and texts to a minor.
  • Memetic Mutation: Has its own page.
  • Moe: Sophie. She’s called "America’s Angel" for a reason, you know.
  • The Problem with Licensed Games: Putting the ironic reviews aside, the Nintendo DS game is infamous for being short, having pointless fetch quests, and clunky controls.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Becky's actress Kate Micucci would go on to voice Webby Vanderquack a decade later, as well as Sadie Miller.
  • So Okay, It's Average: The general reaction from those who look past the memes.
  • Special Effect Failure: About as often as could be expected from a low-budget Disney Channel kidcom with zany situations, but Super-Speed DDR stood out well above the rest.
  • Squick: The Juicer (one of many characters carried over from parent series That's So Raven), who can make juice come out of anything. He even was going to try that on a person's head until said person was pulled away.
  • Too Good to Last: The show would've gone further if not for the Writer's Strike. At 2 seasons and 34 episodes, it has one of the shortest runs of any Disney Channel Original Series. (Going with That Other Wiki, the record holder as of 2015 is Code: 9, with 6 episodes.)
