  • Anti-Climax Boss: The rival assassin in the second game (reboot series) is killed in a cutscene.
  • Catharsis Factor: Executing Black heart in the second game is immensely satisfying, due to all the horrible shit he does.
  • Complete Monster (Original Continuity): "The Black Heart", real name unknown, is first introduced raiding protagonist Jake's house with a wicked smile. He then kills Jake's parents and later abducts him into his camp, where he forcibly trains children to become emotionless soldiers without any free will, called Force X25, and has them participate in wars. During one of these wars, "The Black Heart" orders Jake to execute some prisoners without question. He later resurfaces in the present day to create more of these soldiers, only attempting to escape when Jake kills the patrol in front of his camp. When Jake approaches the dying general, the general's response is, "Your father screamed like a pig!"
  • Crosses the Line Twice: Some people are killed for such horrible or petty reasons that it stops the protagonists from crossing the Moral Event Horizon even though they've done more than enough to reach it.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • Doug is a Cool Old Guy who fights off two assassins to save Tyler and gives him time to pay the rent because he knows that he is struggling financially. He's a rare example of a heroic character in a Crapsack World.
    • Matt Blooper is the most memorable client for many due to being such a petty yet humorous scumbag.
  • Even Better Sequel: The first game is memorable for what it is, but the second game blows it out of the water with better writing, a memorable antagonist, and a simple yet entertaining storyline that gives some impressive depth to the Villain Protagonist. The missions are also more enjoyable and the shooting is more satisfying.
  • Play the Game, Skip the Story: Few people play clear vision for the storyline, but rather the assassinations that such a story enables.
  • Signature Scene: The car torture scene is probably the most memorable scene in the entire series.
  • Sophomore Slump: The third game in the original series is generally considered the weakest, due to the Excuse Plot, absense of target depth, and lack of structure and variation.
  • Surprisingly Improved Sequel: The fourth classic game is a massive step up from the third one, with some memorable missions and impressive graphics for a stickman sniper game, even if the ending is horrendous.
  • Sequel Displacement: Due to the game numbers overriding the originals, the ios games are far better known, even though the classic flash games have over a hundred million combined plays. The third and fourth game are also more well known than the first and second, due to still being on the app store.
