- Crosses the Line Twice: “This time, we didn’t forget the gravy.”
- Misaimed Fandom: In the movie Cats & Dogs, the protagonist, a beagle named Lou, watches this short and roots for the dog.
- Memetic Mutation: That final Wham Line quoted above.
- Nightmare Fuel: The ending gag, where it's strongly implied that the dog is force-fed to death by the cat. It's one of the darkest gags in the Looney Tunes series.
- Unintentionally Sympathetic: Related to the above, as much of a Hate Sink as the dog was, his pitiful condition (and possible death by force-feeding) can either make you feel bad for him or make you cheer for his implied demise.
- Values Dissonance: The scene where the dog forces the mouse to dress up like a stereotypical African native/cannibal (which has been cut from such TV channels in America as FOX, The WB, Nickelodeon, and even Cartoon Network and Boomerangnote ).
