• Broken Base:
  • Is this a necessary continuation, or did The Last Hope wrap up the story of the modern Clans just fine? It probably isn't wise to ask.
  • There was a falsified leak for the book that happened the weekend before the iBooks preview came out. Did it have a good plot and ideas, or was it complete garbage?
  • From the iBooks preview: Is killing Icecloud, Foxleap, Toadstep, and Hazeltail during the Time Skip a good choice that reduces the cast to a more manageable size, or pointless favouritism due to younger and stronger cats dying while older cats survive?
  • As well, there's the matter of Ivypool's mate. With Toadstep and Foxleap dead, the two most likely choices for a mate, if she gets one, are Mousewhisker and Molewhisker. Are these decent choices, or would they make terrible mates for her? And should Ivypool even get a mate?
  • Briarlight's survival in this book. Is how she repeatedly dodges death, even surviving a bout of greencough that killed Hazeltail, Icecloud, and Toadstep getting ridiculous and unrealistic? Or does it not matter, because she's a cool character. The debate is getting pretty heated.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Featherpaw, Crowfeather's apprentice, who only appears in a single scene and doesn't even speak, is now hugely popular, due to resembling Feathertail and rumours that she gets the name Featherfall and becomes the villain of the sixth arc.
• Memetic Mutation:
  • There have been a lot of jokes going around about Crowfeather's new apprentice, Featherpaw, due to her appearance and prefix being identical to those of Crowfeather's First Love, Feathertail, and Crowfeather's Serial Romeo status.
  • The infamous scene were Graystripe refers to Mistystar as his daughter spawned many jokes about Graystripe's forgetfulness.
• The Scrappy: A lot of fans took an immediate dislike to Jessy for her cocky personality, being instantly good at everything without trying, and for getting Ship Tease with Bramblestar, even if he chooses Squirrelflight over her.
