YMMV / Blue Train

• Broken Base: Many fans regard Blue Train as one of Coltrane's best recordings, but it's been hypothesised that this is due to the "Blue Note Effect", a phenomenon among some jazz fans in which they regard anything on Blue Note Records to be automatically great (this was the only album Coltrane made for the label). But other fans (and some critics) feel that, whereas it's a fine hard bop album, it's really not up there with some of the albums he made for Atlantic and Impulse.
