YMMV / Black Sky

Go To

  • Arc Fatigue: The ring battles have been dragging on for a while, and there are so few changes from canon that they feel even longer.
  • Anticlimax Boss: Dorea kills Voldemort by shooting him with Xanxus' gun. He didn't even know she was there. There is more of the narrative is dedicated to her locating herself to Hogwarts than there is to his being killed.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Mainomai, a sweet yet quirky assassin who makes reality cry after its lunch money when he starts to bust the illusions out.
  • Genius Bonus: Xanxus puts the veto on Mukuro teaching Italian to Tsuna because the Mist uses a Northern dialect. Italia is divided in South and North, with the latter generally seen as a poverty-ladden Wretched Hive. How would you like to be related to some gutter urchin?
    • Tsuna being on Last-Name Basis with Gokudera actually shows how uncomfortable he still is with the other teen, especially in light of him using Mukuro's given name - a VERY big deal for the extremely formal Japanese society. Due to the inherent intimacy of a Guardian bond, the young Sky instinctively feels entitled to First-Name Basis with his Mist. His growing trust in Yamamoto is also reflected by this - of all his Guardian candidates, Takeshi and Mukuro are the only ones in his age bracket for whom he doesn't use honorifics or a surname: Tsuna actually considers them his equals and friends.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Ginny considers Dumbledore as deserving to die because he sent Arthur Weasley to protect the prophecy and such be assaulted and killed by Nagini. Mr Weasley's death is even more pointless because the defenses surronding the prophecy would have destroyed the snake, meaning a guard was unnecessary.
    • When they learn how Timoteo Zabini cast his own son and Heir to die in a slum, the Zabini are so incensed that Blaise - who is Timoteo's grandson - and Angelique - Timoteo's daughter - give their blessing to Xanxus for killing him.
    • As creating an Horcrux involves your soul's destruction, it's considered as such by the Wizarding World. Even the Black Family is aghast and disgusted when they learn Voldemort dabbled into that kind of Soul Magic, and are even more horrified when it comes to light he made six of them.
  • The Woobie: Tsuna is definitely this, from what little flashes we see of him. After Lektor becomes the new Lightning Officer and Xanxu's Lightning Guardian, Twelve Years Later Lambo starts gaining horrific scarring. Tsuna blames himself.
    • After fighting Mukuro and straining every muscle in his body, Tsuna suffers his new Mist being abruptly taken away by the Vindice, being stuck in hospital without his friends being able to visit during the weekdays, every single tiny movement like blinking or breathing hurting so badly that he can only cry silently before he gets his dose of painkillers, and he's still scared out of his mind about being trained to be Decimo. Fortunately, his paternal grandma, yes, Iemitsu's mum, Grandma Carla Alliata, just found out that she has an adorable grandson to dote on. She bursts into the Hospital and proceeds to tell Tsuna how wonderful and how much more intelligent than his father he is. She also says that she doesn't care about him being Decimo, she just wants him to try his best and be a good friend. She then sits by his bedside and reads manga with him. Reviewers mentioned that they cried tears of joy at this cute and fluffy scene.
