• Designated Hero: Weiss is implied to have murdered Jacques, and Blake and Yang are implied to have helped. There was no real reason for it beyond snapping from his verbal abuse. Keep in mind that Cinder performing the same action is what sent her down her path of evil in canon.
• Glurge: Most of the relationships in the fic, especially Ruby and Penny. Admittedly, this is sort of the point of the fic, but it gets old after a while.
• Narm: Hoo boy.
  • At several occasions, the dialogue will spontaneously start Waxing Lyrical to the image songs from the show. It usually comes completely out of nowhere, even if it doesn't fit the speech patterns of the person who's saying it.
  • The constant swearing from nearly every character gets rather tiresome eventually.
  • During the Vytal Festival, several characters spontaneously begin reenacting moves from Gundam with little-to-no explanation. This makes it completely impossible to take any of those scenes seriously. However, it's somewhat forgivable since the main purpose of those scenes was simply to have mindless yet spectacular fight scenes. Less forgivable is when it returns in the final battle with Salem. When the main villain of the entire fic, who has been built up towards for the entire plot, is defeated by a Gundam reference, there is a problem.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The fic tends to skip over the most climactic elements of the story, giving summaries from the characters recovering later on. Ruby's One-Winged Angel fight with Adam, Cinder's stepsisters' plan to destroy Beacon, Adam's death offscreen, etc. It's even lampshaded in the latter case. One of the most jarring examples is when the entire Mistral arc is skipped entirely, going from Teams JNPR and CMNE starting out their journey to Glynda arriving in Ironwood's office in Atlas between two chapters.
