YMMV / Band of Gypsys

Go To

  • Replacement Scrappy: Buddy Miles' work here had fans, including Miles Davis, but at least as many detractors, who missed Mitch Mitchell's more frenetic style.
  • Values Dissonance: The name of the album and Hendrix's backing band use the term "gypsy." In the US at the time, it was a common and innocuous synonym for a drifter, but in Europe, it's an anti-Romani slur. In time, the American public would catch on to its discriminatory origins, making the name "Band of Gypsys" much more awkward to look back on decades later.
