YMMV / Armin Van Buuren

Go To

  • Archive Panic: Armin's career started in 1995. In that time, he's composed numerous songs and remixed several others. If you want to listen to it all, clear your schedule out for a binge. To say nothing of his A State of Trance podcast series, which has been going on since 2001.
  • Award Snub: More than a few fans expressed annoyance that "This is What it Feels Like" lost to "Clarity" at the 2014 Grammy Awards.
  • Creator Worship: One of the biggest examples in EDM. Him being a Nice Guy who does music purely to entertain, and starting an ultra-successful radio show and a leading music label in the trance music scene surely help matters.
  • Gateway Series: Armin himself and the ASOT radio show has been credited by newer (those that got into Electronic Music around the 2010s) American fans as what introduced them to the trance world.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • The ending of the "A Year With Armin" documentary - he might have lost the "World's Number One DJ" award that year, but states that the award is ultimately nothing compared to spending time with his then-newborn daughter Fenna.
    • Tomorrowland 2013, when he announces the birth of his son to the audience with Tears of Joy in his eyes and dedicating the set to baby Remy.
    • Mixed with a tearjerker, Armin's tribute to the late Avicii at the April 2018 Sydney ASOT show playing "A Sky full of Stars", Avicii's collaboration with Coldplay.
    • Two words: Miles Away. Legitimately his sweetest song ever.
  • Signature Song: "Communication", "In And Out Of Love", and "This Is What It Feels Like".
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: While it has its fair share of well-loved tracks, Embrace on the whole is considered very weak compared to his earlier material due to its more experimental nature and being less focused on pure trance tracks.
