• Accidental Innuendo: The time AJ was watching a bear documentary.
• Anvilicious: Considering the series focuses on the child of two gay men, it didn't long to start falling into this about tolerance of LGBT people and how, outside of orientation, they're no different than anyone else. Especially when it entered into a story arc where John loses his job after his boss finds out he's gay.
• Arc Fatigue: The story arc about trying to take John's former boss to court over an unfair firing over being gay. While yes, in real life things like that aren't solved overnight and takes a while to build a case, it likewise hasn't really had much traction either with some non-relevant stories in between.
• LGBT Fanbase: The series gained one due to, not only focusing on a gay couple raising a child, but one of their friends being trans.
• Shocking Moments: For some, AJ having a crush on Logan. The surprise for them isn't even that AJ's first crush is a boy, it's that AJ has a crush at all.
