The Ranch (a.k.a. Le Ranch in France and Lena's Ranch in Germany) is a French-German animated TV series created by Vincent Costi. It was produced by Tele Images Productions and ran for a couple of seasons (26 episodes each), although there was a long hiatus before the second season, on the channel, TF 1, in France between 2012 and 2016. It is a derivation of Horseland.

It follows four friends, Lena, Angelo, Hugo, and Anais as they spend part of their free time horseback riding in Carmague's French countryside. After Lena's original horse, a mare named Zaboo, dies from a heart attack, Lena becomes so downhearted that she quits riding any horse again for a month. Then, one rainy night, she comes across another horse, a stallion, and sees that he's in distress. She decides to take in the horse and save him after the mistreatment he received from some bad owners. Lena becomes her new horse's owner and the horse becomes the replacement for Zaboo. She decides to name this horse Mistrial. After renovating her grandfather's ranch, Lena and her friends take care of other horses and any other animals that may be in need of aid. In addition to the equestrian adventures, there is also some romance involved amongst the foursome and they are at odds with a girl, and fellow equestrian, named Samantha.

As of 2020, most of the series hasn't been dubbed in English for some reason nor are there any English subtitles. The very first episode is the only exception and that was courtesy of Zee Kay Toons or Zodiak Kids.

The Ranch contains examples of:

  • Animation Bump: As seen in the first episode, the animation quality switches back and forth from being fluid to more of a Flash, Toon Boom, or something of a similar feel at times.
  • Animesque: This show has that anime look and feel to it, in this case, it's a Franime.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Samantha's little brother Kevin.
  • Back in the Saddle: Lena, both literally and figuratively.
  • Blackmail: Samantha often uses this tactic to get Kevin to spy for her and do her dirty work.
  • Despair Speech: Lena vowing never to ride any horse again.
  • Gender-Equal Ensemble: The main cast are two girls (Lena and Anais) and two boys (Angelo and Hugo).
  • Girl Posse: Samantha's two friends.
  • Hope Crusher: Samantha takes great pleasure in rubbing it in the face of Lena, who lost her first horse.
  • It's All My Fault: Lena beats herself up over Zaboo's death and believes she's the cause.
  • It's Personal: Samantha makes it her mission to take Mistrial from Lena for trying to attack her. And partly so Lena won't compete against her.
  • Kindly Vet: Lena's dad, as he proves when he manages to get Mistrial under control.
  • Love Triangle: Lena, Angelo, and Hugo.
  • Ms. Fanservice: In any beach episode, Lena and Anais would qualify for this when wearing bikinis.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Lena feeling guilty for the tragic passing of Zaboo, having ridden her anyway, despite knowing her heart condition.
  • Plot-Triggering Death: The episode, and the entire premise, began with Lena's horse Zaboo's death.
  • Plucky Comic Relief: Hugo fills this role.
  • She's Back: Lena horseback rides again after adopting her new horse.
