Meet Sherm Boomerson, a typical adolescent 12- year boy trying to get through his days of troubling 7th-grade anxieties, insecurities, and urges. As if that's not enough, Sherm's got one more problem. He's got Germs! Thanks to a laboratory experiment gone awry, these 5 non-infectious Germs have become his live-in, self-appointed best friends and in turn, removed the word "normal" from Sherm's vocabulary.
The following cartoon contains these tropes:
- A Boy and His X: The Germs, in place of the "X", who make Sherm's life way more difficult than it should be.
- Character Title: Guess who's name is in the title.
- Colour-Coded for Your Convenience: The germs have their own signature colour
- Titus - Red
- Cleo - Magenta
- Iggy - Orange and Green for each halve
- Whoosh - Blue
- Oboes - Yellow
- Disappeared Dad: According to Sherm, his father requires a lot of overseas travel for his job. As such, Sherm's father was never shown onscreen and only mentioned twice throughout the show's run.
- Dub Name Change: The show was changed in the Belgian dub to "Germaanse Jongen" note because they were worried that "Sherm" would sound much too similar to something else. note
- Girl of the Week: Three of the episodes involve Sherm trying to impress his crush and failing miserably each time.
- One-Word Title: Count the number of words in "Sherm!".
- Short-Runner: Lasted one season at 28 episodes with three episodes missing to this day.
