The Land of the Flowers is a The Legend of Spyro webcomic by Herakidpatrol, which explores the origin story of the first purple dragon, Umbris, about 10,000 years before Spyro and Malefor. The comic explores how the abuse his parents and community heaped onto him for being born different in turn molded Umbris into a cold, heartless monster who wished to destroy the world and who brought death and destruction to the world and went would be remembered as infamy.

This work contains examples of:
- Abusive Parents: Exaggerated. Not only are Umbris' parents incredibly abusive towards his, the entire community he was born into is abusive to him. Because of his previously unheard-of purple scales, everyone treats him like a demon and constantly insults him, beats him for petty reasons, and regularly tells him that they want him dead; even his parents indulge in this behavior.
- Evil Old Folks: Father Krine, head of the cult, is an abusive fanatic who leads an even more depraved cult that would kill an innocent newborn just because he was born differently. He is highly abusive to Umbris as a teacher and only sees him as a potentially useful pawn who can help "spread the word of the gods" as he puts it, because of Umbris' power Krine sensed. He casually mentioned to Umbris' mother, Lilloria, that she should feel lucky Krine did not execute her simply for giving birth to Umbris, something she could not control. He even choked the newborn Umbris for no reason other than to instill fear in the poor child.
- From Nobody to Nightmare: Right there in the comic's description and overall premise. Umbris goes from an outcast of a religious cult of dragons to perhaps the most infamous monster of his time; a reigning dark lord who will spread death, destruction, and tyranny across the entire world, all out of a desire to see it suffer the way he did.
- Hated by All: Umbris as far as the cultish community of dragons he was born into is concerned. Because of the different colors of the scales he has, everyone thinks of him as an unholy demon and abomination. It's to the point his own father threw Umbris against a wall as a newborn, and no one in the room was disturbed by this or hesitated at this, only wanting Umbris dead. He was only spared because the elder sensed his power and felt he might be useful.
- Hate Sink: An entire community of them. Pretty much every member of the cult is a delusional zealot and abusive asshole to Umbris for irrational reasons and shows no empathy for him at all. Umbris' parents Lilloria and Ghidorin stand out for showing no concern for their newborn son. Ghidorin swatted him hard enough he left a blood smear against a wall mere seconds after birth, wanting him dead simply because of how Umbris was born a strange color, and the whole time both were only worrying about how his birth might cost them their membership and status in the cult. Both are also verbally and physically abusive towards Umbris as well.
- Kick the Dog: Pretty much every member of the cult does every time they are on screen. Special mention goes to Krine choking a newborn Umbris, and Ghidorin swatting his newborn son against a wall hard enough to leave a blood smear.
- Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Hinted to be the case in supplemental materials and even the intro's description. Based on these summaries, Umbris will enact one of these on the cult after his powers as a purple dragon finally awaken, slaughtering his abusive parents and the good majority of the cult before ruling over the rest.
