Spider-Man '98 is a self-funded two issue mini series written by Zarius and illustrated by Ebraga. It is a fan continuation of Spider-Man: The Animated Series. carrying on directly from where the animated series left off. The series kicked off on July 27th 2022 with the first page of the opening episode, Domain of the Goblin.
This comic provides examples of:
- Feuding Families: Osborn has a maddening grudge against Peter for every transgression he perceives to have been made against his family, while Peter has his own bone to pick with Osborn for affecting his and MJ's family lives.
- Futile Hand Reach: It looks like this will be subverted at the end of page one as Spidey succeeds in grabbing MJ's hand, only for a plum of mist to spring up and separate them at the top of page two.
- Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: Peter subjects the Goblin to this as soon as he knocks him off his glider, with Mary Jane pleading for Peter to end the violence.
- Save the Princess: Peter must fend off an attack from the Green Goblin to reach and rescue Mary Jane
- Shoryuken: Peter's defiant final move that knocks the Green Goblin out for six,
- Stay with Me Until I Die: Aunt May requests this with Mary Jane in The Gift
- Void Between the Worlds: The setting for the premiere episode 'Domain of the Goblin' as Peter and Madame Web find themselves traversing through this to reach Mary Jane Watson
- What Might Have Been: Early plans for the series included an adaptation of 'Devil's Reign' and a Day in the Limelight for Ben Reilly.
