Matchmaker volume 1 cover
Matchmaker is a slice of life webcomic created by Cam Marshall. It began publication in 2021, and ended in 2023. It follows Kimmy and Mason, two queer roommates trying to survive young adulthood in the 2020's.

Marshall has a patreon up to keep the comic running, as well as an itch.io where you can purchase a high quality pdf of each completed volume. A physical collected volume of all the comics is set to be published in September, 2023.

Matchmaker is primarily a comedy, but often delves into more serious topics such as breakups, depression, and struggling under a capitalist society.

Matchmaker contains examples of:

  • Amicable Exes: Kimmy breaks up with their partner Cass in volume 2, but they remain friends throughout the comic
  • Art Evolution: Throughout the comic's run, the art gets cleaner and more consistent.
  • Beach Episode: Well, lake episode. Volume 3 ends in the 3 main characters going to a lake for the day, and it's here where the romantic tension throughout the volume finally comes to a head.
  • Cast Full of Gay: Centered around the friendship between a gay man and a lesbian, and their relationships with their other queer friends.
  • Family of Choice: Mason and Sam's parents aren't accepting of their queer identities and try to ignore that aspect of them, so the two find comfort and support among their friends.
  • Limited Social Circle: Lampshaded. Kimmy mentions to Mason that they had an erotic dream about one of their friends, and he quickly figures out it was Marlowe due to her being one of the only 3 people Kimmy regularly interacts with. (The others being Mason and their ex.)
  • Platonic Life-Partners: No matter the circumstances, Mason and Kimmy are ride or die friends and support each other through thick and thin.
  • Relationship Upgrade: Marlowe and Kimmy in volume 3.
  • Sexy Shirt Switch: Happens with Marlowe and Kimmy after they scramble to get dressed before Mason and his sister Sam come home.
  • Slice of Life: The comic follows the character's day to day lives, occasionally with ongoing low stakes plot lines.
