Mara follows the titular character, a young girl from a small fishing village, as she tries to manage the power of an ancestral spirit she wasn't prepared to receive. As she ventures from the broken tatters of her own little tribe into the larger world on a quest for revenge, she learns how much bigger the world is than herself, and how deeply entrenched her enemy really is.

It can be found at mara-comic.com.

Mara contains examples of:

  • BFS: While cut off in the cover art, official promo art depicts the weapon Mara wields - a jawbone axe large enough that an ordinary kid wouldn't even be able to lift it. Makes you wonder what creature could have a jaw that size...
  • Braids, Beads and Buckskins: Played straight in how the Rein tribe is presented. Both of Mara's parents have long hair, and beaded jewelry, for example.
  • Crossover: Mara did a crossover with Glyn In Monster Land, and it was more lighthearted than their usual fare.
  • Kid Hero: Mara is only eight years old at the start of the story.
  • Metal-Poor Planet: While metal exists, it is rare enough that seeing someone with a metal weapon is noteworthy. Most weapons have bone or stone blades.
  • Super-Strong Child: The only reason she's able to use a weapon that large.
  • Tomboy: While it might not be immediately obvious based on how the Rein tribe wears their hair, Mara dresses more like her father. She is also seen accompanying him to catch fish, though this may be more about looking up to him.
