Inhibit is a webcomic created by Scottish writer Eve Greenwood. It began in January of 2015 and updates on Wednesdays.

The comic follows Victor Allen, a superpowered teenager living at the Earl Estate, where he and other teens learn to control their powers (or variations, as the story calls them.) Victor’s 18th birthday is approaching, and with it, his chance at a normal life. Unfortunately, Victor soon finds himself tangled up in a conspiracy involving a mysterious arsonist.

Inhibit can be found here.

Inhibit contains examples of:

  • Alliterative Name: Sidney Sternlight.
  • Amicable Exes: Julia and Joanne are still good friends, despite the fact that they used to date.
  • Brought Down to Normal: Over time, some people go Dormant, meaning they lose their variation. However, dormancy isn’t actually a natural occurrence.
  • Differently Powered Individual: Superpowered individuals are called “variants.”
  • Flashback: The story begins with a flashback to when Victor first arrived at Urquhart. Chapter five also includes a flashback to Victor's time at Urquhart and how he met some of the other variants his age.
  • An Ice Person: Julia has the power of cryomanipulation, or control over ice.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Victor’s goal is to get a license to live a normal life despite his powers.
  • Mind over Matter: Joanne and Masha both have the power of telekinesis.
  • Not Evil, Just Misunderstood: Paulina is at first thought to be a villain due to her status as an arsonist, but it turns out she’s trying to prove that dormancy isn’t real.
  • The Password Is Always "Swordfish": Nate's password is "Sanfran1." According to Victor, it hasn't changed in eight years.
  • Playing with Fire: Paulina has the power of pyromanipulation, the ability to control fire.
  • Power Incontinence: Everyone at the facilities (Earl, Larner, Miller, and Urquhart) is there to learn how to control their variations.
  • Power Nullifier: Inhibitors are devices used to help new trainees learn to control their powers. They hinder a variant's ability to use their variation. Each inhibitor is meant to control a specific inhibition.
  • The Reveal: That dormancy isn’t real.
    Paulina: Dormancy isn’t real.
    Victor: What?
Paulina: Dormancy is something they do to you. They take your power away.
  • Shock and Awe: Victor has the power of electromanipulation, or control over electricity.
  • Single Power Superhero: Each character has only one variation. Except for Paulina, who has Invisibility and pyromanipulation.
  • Super Cop: Urquhart trains variant officers who deal with variant-related crimes.
  • Super-Senses: David is Hypersensory, meaning he has heightened senses.
  • Superhero School: The facilities train variants to control their variations.
  • Superhero Team Uniform: Urquhart has uniforms that designate whether or not the wearer is “trained.”
