The sequel to Bad Guy High.

Lemniscate Society organized the villains of the world and secretly took it over. They then conducted a purge of the world's superheroes, killing them off or enslaving them to reverse engineer their powers, with the few survivors forming into resistance groups.

Highschool student Maureen Palmer has the misfortune to get caught in one of their fights. After she sustains a serious injury, the super-heroine, Bodacious, transfers her powers, saving her life, but also making her their new prime target. And she will soon have even bigger problems than Lemniscate Society to deal with, as the world is about be invaded by alien foes.

It can be read here.

Tropes:

  • Brainwashed and Crazy: What Lemniscate Society does to the heroes that they consider worth capturing as opposed to killing, breaking their minds into mind controlled slavery.
  • Covert Group: An organization of super villains called Lemniscate Society secretly rules the world. Civilians still live somewhat normally, but the world's superheroes have become fugitives.
  • Crapsack World: The world is secretly ruled by supervillains and is on the brink of being invaded by far worse.
  • Crazy Survivalist: Safe-House's shtick. It actually comes in handy for the heroes, allowing them to survive their lives as fugitives, up until he sells them out to the very people hunting them when they offer better protection than the heroes can.
  • Darker and Edgier: This series has little of the silliness from Bad Guy High, and Word of God explicitly describes it as an attempt to make a more serious comic.
  • Death by Depower: The previous Bodacious dies after transferring her powers, and the same thing would most likely happen if her successor tried it too.
  • Dirty Cop: The villains control the police force and use them to cover up their activities. They do not control the media, so despite the secrecy, there are still many rumors of said control.
  • Dirty Coward: The former superhero, Safe-House, who provided the heroes with secret places to hide in, betrays them to Lemniscate Society when he realizes that they aren't just losing the war against Lemniscate Society, but are on the brink of facing far worse.
  • Evil Is Not a Toy: Even Lemniscate Society knew better than to mess with the Nevermind, but someone reopened a breach into it anyways.
  • Full-Body Disguise: Paragon X's costume covers up his entire body. However, the purple theme still leaves it similar enough to Super Dan's outfit to leave the bad guys highly suspicious that it's him.
  • La RĂ©sistance: The former superheroes have no place in this world's new order and don't even have the option of retiring since Lemniscate Society is actively hunting them down, forcing them to become resistance fighters.
  • Passing the Torch:
    • The previous Bodacious passes on her powers to a wounded Innocent Bystander, Maureen, making her the new Bodacious.
    • It's revealed that Super Dan didn't really get his powers from a "radioactive superman", but from the superhero Supreme Justice, who needed to pass on his powers before he fully went mad.
  • Seers: Superhero Anesthesia has the limited ability to see possible futures.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: Maureen Palmer cannot return home, because Lemniscate Society has made obtaining Bodacious's powers their number one priority and she has no known method of reverting to her natural form. Returning home would just mean letting Lemniscate Society know who to use as hostages against her.
