This webcomic provides examples of:
- A.I. Is a Crapshoot: The elevator for the Veritas Corp base malfunctions as soon as it's introduced, much to Nayriea's and Umi's dismay.
- Bar Brawl: Nayreia gets into a relatively low-key one with a Freakshow minion in the Rouge Isles even after ED specifically told her to keep a low profile.
- Chekhov's Gunman: The Arachnos minion at Lloyd's bar winds up reporting in to his boss in spite of claiming to have been off-duty at the time, which is even noted in the report Operative Cobalt gave to Arbiter Friesen. The Freakshow minion who was left for dead in the same scene may or may not have a bigger role to play later on too.
- Foreshadowing: Nayreia's backstory is hinted at a few times in Chapter 0 and Chapter 1
- Medium Blending: The comic uses City of Heroes screenshots for the backgrounds while the characters and their equipment are hand-drawn.
- Opening Narration: Chapter 0 starts with this from Nayreia.
- Revival/Reboot: The comic is a revival/reboot of the artist's older work involving Karonax.
- Revolving Door Casting: The roleplay usually goes with whoever is available so not everyone can attend all of the events, let alone the ones that make it into the comic.
- Soft Reboot: After a hiatus for both the comic and roleplay, the comic soft rebooted using a Time Skip with the pages that were made before the hiatus being re-labeled as "Chapter 0".
- Time Skip: One happens between Chapter 0 and Chapter 1.
- Written Sound Effect: Being a City of Heroes webcomic, "
Freem!" in particular is used often. Another notable examples include ED's "WEOYOINK!" (a variation of the "WEOM" sound made by psychic powers) when he takes the deed to the base from Nayria's pocket.
