Disenchanted is a webcomic written by Simon Spurrier and drawn by German Erramouspe. Unique for a webcomic, however, is that it is published by Avatar Press, a publishing company for actual, physical comics.

The story is set in an underground city (under modern day London, to be precise) called Vermintown — which is inhabited by folkloric smallfolk. The plot centers around a fay family named the Leveret's and their event-filled lives within Vermintown.

Has nothing to do with the animation Disenchantment or the sequel to Enchanted, Disenchanted.

This webcomic contains examples of:

  • Absurdly Spacious Sewer: Sort of. Vermintown isn't actually located in a sewer, but in an abandoned section of the London Underground.
  • Been There, Shaped History: Tibitha and her sisters (now long dead) were among the Cottingley Fairies photographed in 1917.
  • Fantastic Ghetto: Bogside for the Boggarts fits this trope to a T.
  • Fantastic Racism: While most races in Vermintown have an isolationist attitude as well as a grudge against each other, the group most affected by this trope are the Boggarts.
  • Humans Are Cthulhu: Human beings are generally referred by the Glamoured as "the Vastfolk". Philosophically, from a Glamoured perspective, they have more in common with natural features or tectonic masses than living entities. Furthermore, to Vermintown's population, a human occupies a strange mental niche somewhere between that of "Glacial Landscape, Terrifying Predator and Deity".
  • The Irish Mob: Suhlie the Leprechaun.
  • Masquerade: The Glamoured races kept their existence hidden from humans and is written in the See Law, which forbids any from revealing themselves to human eyes. Vermintown is enchanted with a spell which makes humans forget about the station's existence. This enchantment affected the above establishment, the porn shop, which was condemned for destruction and briefly tried to reopen, but swiftly went out of business as people could never seem to find it, nor remember where it was once they had.
  • Old Cop, Young Cop: Sal and Breekle.
  • Police Forces: The Vermintown Militia.
  • The City vs. the Country: The Goblins are self-referred to as cityfolks and the Fey and other races are countryfolks.
  • The Fair Folk
    • Our Fairies Are Different
    • Our Goblins Are Different: Goblins are materialistic and their life literally depends on it, as the concept of ownership makes them-they grow or shrink in accordance with how much they possess (or how much they owe). They are also strictly hierarchical and cosmopolitan. They are not adept at weaving glamours, given that their glamour revolves entirely around principles of ownership and acquisition, and most goblins are forced to trade charms and hexes with practitioners from other races, or to buy powerful drugs for a temporary “glamrush”.
  • The Magic Goes Away: The whole theme of the story. According to the background story, magic has been steadily declining as time passes along with their natural habitats being overrun by human expansion. Many races had names for this decline: goblins call it “the great forget”, Pics name it “the withering”, to Kobolds it’s “zöhbun-slathl” (“the slowing of the knocking”), and so on. For some goblins, however, they describe it as “the most important they’d ever felt" due to their founding of Wardour Street Station into Vermintown and turning it into (possibly) the last magical bastion, and therefore becoming the most powerful and influential Glamoured race. The Fey are struggling to keeping their old traditions alive when their lives are spent on dabbling in the tiny details of "Vastfolk" lives are becoming redundant.
  • Wretched Hive
