X Life SMP is a modded Minecraft server founded by Scott Smajor and Seapeekay, with its members including LDShadowLady, Joey Graceffa, Shubble, Katherine Elizabeth, SmallishBeans, Solidarity, fWhip, GeminiTay, and LaurenZSide.

Each player starts with one heart, and when they die, they gain another heart. They can die 10 times, before they are eliminated and kicked off the server. The SMP officially started on May 23nd, 2020, and was unofficially concluded altogether as many creator-characters have wrapped up their series and moved on to Empires SMP Season 1, and is succeeded by the Afterlife SMP. A 'Next Gen' season was started by Joey on September 11, 2023, featuring new members such as BerthaDarling, KnivesBowed and NovaSoBored.

Note: Unless otherwise specified, all tropes pertain to the characters, not the content creators that play them.

Tropes about the X Life SMP include:

  • Added Alliterative Appeal: Jimmy's base is named Loser Lagoon.
  • Colour-Coded for Your Convenience: The health bar of each player changes colour depending on how many lives/hearts they have.
  • Courtroom Episode: Meghan attempts to sue Joel after losing her second life by falling off his shop for improper safety standards.
  • Cult: Joel starts a "religion" called Jeremyism after his donkey; its members included Jimmy, Callum, Jack, fWhip, Oli and Meghan. When Scott, one of the "religion"'s most vocal opponents, takes over, he officially declares Jeremyism a cult.
  • Didn't Think This Through: In his 46th episode, Scott tries to use lava as decoration for the wooden Church of Jeremy while setting up a lava-based trap there. Naturally, the building starts catching fire in seconds.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Aside from withering potions and lava, Scott decides to rig the Church of Jeremy with TNT to explode at Jack's funeral, killing everyone on the premises.
  • Then Let Me Be Evil: In his 44th episode, Scott manages to take over Jeremyism by completing Joel's "Jeremy's House of Pain" without dying, and decides to make some changes to the rules, e.g. declaring Jeremyism a cult and making teal the official colour. When the members of Jeremyism start rebelling against his new rules and plot to overthrow him, Scott declares this and traps the Church of Jeremy to kill everyone at Jack's funeral.
Scott: I came into Jeremyism fairly. I did not overthrow Jeremyism; I won Jeremyism, because I had the same opportunities as everybody else did. I don't think the rules and changes I made were particularly bad. I could have just disbanded [it] on the spot, but I didn't. I decided to try and take over peacefully, make a few changes, and generally keep the flow of life the same, but if they want to have someone that they need to overthrow and someone they need to hide away from and someone [they] need to be scared of, I will give them someone that they need to be scared of.
  • Video-Game Lives: Players have 10 lives on the SMP, with one heart on their first life, two on their second life, and so on. Those who lose all 10 of their lives are Killed Off for Real.
  • Witch Classic: Joey starts a coven of witches, with its members following the criteria of having a broomstick, a unique familiar and a magical ability; its members including most of the ladies on the server (Katherine, Shelby, Gem, Lizzie) and Scott.
