The Shadows We Cast is an Actual Play Dungeons & Dragons live stream hosted by TheWillyBoo on ColonelCheru (aka Chelsea Livingstone)'s Twitch channel
, and archived on her Youtube channel. The campaign also has an official Twitter account. The series is currently in its third season.The series tells the tale of an adventuring party known as "The Dream Team", named such because they originally met one another in a shared dream. The core party consists of Cheru as Cricket, Connor McKinley (DistortionDevil) as Kilian, Gaijin Goombah as Danzan, and Eric (MilesEdgeworth) as Harrow. Starting in Season 2, the group featured some temporary guests, including MontyGlu as Aseux and Arcolf as Viltautas Eindride.
Tropes:
- Amnesiac Hero: Cricket begins the series with no memories, and was travelling on a quest to retrieve them.
- Bridezilla: The Halloween Special, in addition to a Mad Scientist, also features a spectral bride who's been trying to have the perfect wedding ceremony and has murdered all six of her would-be husbands.
- Halloween Episode: Season 2 included a Halloween Special, initially streamed for Halloween 2020, that is blatantly inspired by The Rocky Horror Picture Show (with a lustful Mad Scientist tasking the party with helping him create the perfect man).
- Internal Reveal: In Season 2, Episode 17, Cricket and Killian have a private talk about Cricket secretly being a weretiger. In the next episode, the rest of the party learns about what was talked about, when Cricket chooses to transform during a fight against a dragon.
- Losing Your Head: The undead Bridezilla in the Halloween Special keeps her "current" husband's head on her person. Said husband's zombie body is still active, though the party has to choose between returning it or giving it to a Mad Scientist, who had promised to use his creation to help them all escape.
- Our Werewolves Are Different: The setting includes characters that can transform into beasts when exposed to moonlight, but can mostly control themselves with some willpower, with two prominent characters secretly being a were-raven (Mr. House) and a were-tiger (Cricket).
- Snake People: Aseux is a white and lavender Yuan-ti, whose appearance most resembles a Horned Sea Snake.
- Sole Survivor: In his backstory, Killian used to be a part of a mercenary company, until an incident occurred that left him as the only survivor. He then learned that he only survived due to a blessing from Tempus, the Lord of Battles, and became a Cleric devoted to the art of war.
- Tanuki: Danzan, the character played by Gaijin. He's even named after the legendary Danzaburou.
