Pokemon The Series XY Rewrite is a series of Fanfic videos written by Zanolith. It is a retelling of Pokemon anime's adaptation of Pokémon X and Y. They can be found Here.
The fanfic contains the following tropes:
- 11th-Hour Superpower: Ash's Greninja has the same power from canon, but here it it called "Resonance" rather than "Bond Phenomenon", and is first hinted at as a Froakie.
- Adaptation Deviation:
- Pokemon Contests are used in place of Showcases, though the title of Kalos Queen (or King) still stands.
- Ash captures Phantump, which evolves into Trevanant.
- Serena captures a shiny Absol.
- Turns out Greninja's power came as a result of experimentation from Team Flare.
- Ash and Greninja ultimately win against Alain, but him collapsing from his usage of Dark Mega Evolution and Team Flare's invasion results in the Kalos League become a No Contest.
- Adapted Out:
- Florges is not included in Goodra's backstory.
- Nini is not present.
- The Bus Came Back: May returns in this rewrite, along with her partner Blaziken, to not only participate in an exhibition performance at Fleurrh City, but to also be a mentor to Serena.
- Deadly Upgrade: Alain and his Charizard possesses something called a Dark Mega Evolution.
- Related in the Adaptation: Alain in this version is Sycamore's son.
