High Guardian Spice Abridged is an Abridged Series of the Crunchyroll Original series High Guardian Spice.

Episodes can be found at Guardian HQ.

  • Abusive Parents: Sage's mom, in addition to being an Education Mama who expects straight-A's, also threatens to kill her and Rosemary if she uses New Magic.
  • Ax-Crazy: Rosemary. She's very eager to commit violence and regularly spouts lines about wanting to kill and/or eat people.
  • Big Eater: While Rosemary is this in the original series, here she's obsessed with eating, including things that she really shouldn't.
  • Boarding School of Horrors: The staff at High Guardian Academy is a lot more blatant about the fact that students can be killed at the school than in canon. The Triad Elder flat out says that half of the students won't even last the first day. Caraway admits that budget cuts to the school have forced them to hire a bunch of homeless people in place of qualified teachers and the weapons policy is non-existent.
  • Demonic Possession: Rosemary's violent and gluttonous tendencies are the result of her being possessed by a demon before the events of the series.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: The first episode establishes that Rosemary has eaten people before.
Rosemary: Sage, are crowds a food?
Sage: No, Rose, you can't eat people.
Rosemary: I beg to differ, I've done it before.
Sage: Old Man Jones does not count. He was already dead.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Rosemary is such a glutton that she’s eaten plenty of non-food things before. She even manages to eat the color blue, which results in Sage temporarily having black hair.
  • Idiot Hero: For a very loose definition of "hero"; Rosemary is single-mindedly focused on either fighting, eating, or both, and according to the intro of the second episode, she doesn't even know how to read.
  • Only Sane Man: Sage tries to be the more rational one when dealing with Rosemary and her violent antics.
  • Queer Colors: Caraway’s clothes are edited to have colors of the transgender flag.
  • Queer Establishing Moment: Caraway's very first scene has him walking in wearing the transgender flag's colors, talking about how he's going to teach gender studies as opposed to whatever his class was supposed to be, and openly announcing that his main personality trait is that he's trans.
  • Really Gets Around: Parsley is extremely promiscuous in this series.
  • Related in the Adaptation: While Rosemary's father isn't mentioned in the actual series, the abridged series implies early on that it's Caraway.
  • The Unintelligible: Slime Boy can’t actually talk normally. He says a bunch of garble nonsensical words and the subtitles translate what he’s saying.
