Fairbairn Films is an Australian comedy channel created by Lachlan and Jaxon Fairbairn. It features them in various, typically relatable, situations with a signature homemade style. Often starring in the skits is Darcy Ahrns, another Australian YouTuber.
The channel was created in April of 2014 and its most viewed video is currently A day in the life of an Australian.
We did our presentation on...tropes.!!
- Ain't Too Proud to Beg: In When You Accidentally Hurt Your Sibling, Darcy and Lachlan accidentally stab Jaxon while playing a game called "Catchy Knife". The remainder of the video is the brothers begging Jaxon not to tell their mother, while also making promises that get more and more outlandish.Lachlan: We'll get you a boat!Darcy: (whispers to Lachlan)Lachlan: We don't have that kind of money!
- Badass Driver: When you're late for work sees Lachlan tell Jaxon that he needs to get to work in under 30 minutes. Jaxon, clearly in a rush, opts to drive to work, pulling off legitimately impressive stunts. However, by the time Jaxon gets to work, it's been four hours since Lachlan called him and he's fired as a result.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: The ending of Everytime you get a Ticket at a Takeaway Shop.
- Disproportionate Retribution: In the video The Correct way to eat Weetbix, Lachlan opts to have 2 Weetbix. Jaxon thinks this is an insufficient amount and calls the "Bix Police" to arrest Lachlan.
- Exactly What It Says on the Tin: Most video titles describe exactly what happens in the video. For example, The Man With Really Long Arms is about a man with really long arms.
- Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: In When someone reminds the teacher about homework, Jameson (played by Jaxon) reminds Mr. Smith (played by Darcy) about homework that was due that lesson. Mr. Smith tells Jameson off for this action and ends up cancelling the homework while also giving him a detention for being "shit".
- Stylistic Suck: Each video, barring a skit sponsored by PlayStation, is filmed in the brothers' home, with the occasional whiteboard in the background if the video takes place in a school or Apple headquarters.
- Writing by the Seat of Your Pants: In-Universe. The video How the writers came up with Spongebob presents us with Nickelodeon producers being tasked with creating a new show idea in 1 minute or else everyone loses their jobs. They subsequently make up a bunch of stuff on the spot.
