G’s Paragate is a 21-episode short animated web series created by the YouTube user GHXYK2. It saw releases every Sunday for the first 21 weeks of 2017. The series has faded into obscurity, but remains the most prominent work on GHXYK2’s channel to this day. It is known for its extremely nonlinear and seemingly unconnected plots, though it does feature some continuous story arcs. It is available to watch here.

G’s Paragate contains examples of:

  • Cabin Fever: The gargoyle in the first episode has been stuck at his post for so long, he no longer wants to be there.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Most of the characters who are not from the continuous story arcs never appear again after making only one appearance. Likewise, the characters featured in said continuous story arcs also never appear again after the last episode of the arc. The only notable exception is Thomas, who returns in the eleventh episode after debuting in the third episode.
  • Determinator: Although E. Andleway has a severe leg injury that causes him to leave a trail of blood wherever he walks and is usually forced to support himself with a rock he uses like a staff, he manages to remain with the expedition group without showing any signs of possibly fainting once. He even discards his rock after Galfriche offers his child’s running shoes, eager to retrieve Elder Bouchemhan from the tree.
  • Dinner Deformation: In the third episode of the “Jungle on a Jungle” story arc, Elder Bouchemhan knocks some objects out of the tree he gets stuck in, one of which is a snake that has eaten a large tree bird and is still digesting it, showing the outline of the bird inside its body.
  • Finding Judas: In the second episode of the “Acid Burn on a Muddy Ridge” story arc, Betal willingly betrays, abandons, and recklessly endangers his former companion, Gilroie.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: Despite E. Andleway having a severe leg injury, he seems to completely ignore it and sticks with the expedition group regardless of the situation.
  • No Name Given: The red-skinned strong man wearing an iron helmet who appears in every episode of the “Jungle on a Jungle” story arc never has his name mentioned in the dialogue, and he also never speaks, so his name is likewise never revealed by the subtitle box.
  • No Plot? No Problem!: In the eighteenth, nineteenth, and twentieth episodes, the narrator gets usurped by Do Good. Aside from Do Good’s stories, the episodes are otherwise plotless, and Do Good’s motives for usurpation are never explained.
  • Reports of My Death Were Greatly Exaggerated: In the second episode, Mr. Walker finds a “corpse” lying in the mud… which turns out to be a perfectly okay living person lying in the mud to cure his bad skin.
  • River of Insanity: The “Jungle on a Jungle” story arc focuses on a group of people on an expedition who, having been isolated from civilized people for days, become lost in the jungle when their leader decides to find food.
  • Swapped Roles: In the third episode, Thomas and NizQueb switch each other’s assigned parts in their band recital.
