Anguirus, Godzilla's underdog BFF, decides to take a long needed kaiju vacation! (Will everything go to plan...?)
Anguirus' Vacation is a Godzilla fan animation and second entry of the “Tales From Monster Island!” series by Quazies uploaded on January 27, 2023.

In a version of Monster Island where the kaiju live human-like lives, Anguirus has been feeling stressed about his overdue bills, slobbish roommate, and the occasionally violent behavior of the other residents. After receiving a flyer in the mail for a resort on a nearby island, he tells his friend Godzilla that he is going on a vacation. However, things might not quite go as planned.

The short features no spoken dialogue, instead conveying the story largely through narration in the captions to accompany the characters' actions. You can watch it here.

Anguirus' Vacation contains examples of:

  • Art Shift: During Anguirus' nightmare, Godzilla is drawn in a Super-Deformed style reminiscent of Godzilland to emphasize how helpless he is against King Ghidorah. Earlier, a picture of Anguirus and Godzilla during their younger years is also drawn in a similar chibi style.
  • Benevolent Boss: Godzilla is implied to be this to Anguirus; when the latter asks for permission to go on a vacation, Godzilla just smiles and approves his request. Word of God has clarified that Godzilla put the pamphet in Angirus' mailbox to nudge him into taking a break.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Anguirus is portrayed here as a rather timid, mild-mannered kaiju who frequently takes things in stride, but is shown to be able to get quite serious when Godzilla is in danger at the end. Earlier, he angrily tells his roommate Gorosaurus when leaving for his vacation that he wants to find the house clean when he gets back.
    • Titanosaurus' introduction card describes him as "Gentle Giant (?)", and while he's presented as a generous and friendly host to Anguirus, showering him with all the benefits his island resort has to offer, he beats the crap out of Ebirah and rips his claw off (which he then presents to Anguirus as lunch) after the giant lobster rudely splashed himself, Anguirus and the Dorats.
  • Catapult Nightmare: Anguirus wakes up this way from a nightmare he has during his vacation of Godzilla being attacked by King Ghidorah.
  • Childhood Friends: One of Anguirus pictures at home is him and Godzilla as children, meaning that both of them knew each other for a long time.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Anguirus may come off as a timid goofball, especially when compared to the more stoic and grouchy Godzilla, but he still proves himself a force to be reckoned with; earlier in the short he bites into Kumonga hard enough to cause it pain and distress, and near the climax he curls into a spiked ball and knocks King Ghidorah off-balance from behind. In both instances, his intervention allowed Godzilla to finish off both opponents.
  • Dartboard of Hate: Anguirus is shown to have a dartboard in his house with a picture of King Ghidorah on it. Later, as part of his vacation activities, he is shown throwing darts at pictures of Ghidorah, Gigan and Mechagodzilla, complete with one dart for each of Ghidorah's heads.
  • Freeze-Frame Introduction: Godzilla, Anguirus, Mothra, Titanosaurus and King Ghidorah are all given freeze-frame introductions when they first appear, showing their names and their mottos.
  • Rolling Attack: In the climax, Anguirus saves Godzilla by curling into a ball and rolling into King Ghidorah from behind, stabbing him with his spikes.
  • Thick-Line Animation: The short is drawn in vivid colors with thick black borders around the characters.
  • Undying Loyalty: Anguirus is shown here as a very loyal friend to Godzilla despite the latter's occasional mistreatment of him, even cutting his much-needed vacation short to go help him as soon as he suspected he might be in danger.
  • Wingding Eyes: Characters are often drawn with stylized eyes resembling emoticons, such as Anguirus' eyes being shown in a ^ shape when is happy or a = when he is tired or weary.
