WMG / The Order of the Stick: The Linear Guild

Go To

Nale will become a demon.
  • Seeing that Sabine is a demon, he might decide that he'd prefer living that way.
    • Probably Jossed as Tarquin has just killed Nale
      • Not quite. In D&D/Pathfinder, Manes (Abyssal souls) can become Demons, this usually takes centuries or more, but sometimes it happens soon after the person's death if they were Evil enough or the need rises. If Sabine can find his Petitioner/Larva in time, she might be able to do it herself.
      • The only problem with that theory is that such a thing could only work as such with Chaotic Evil souls, whereas Nale was stated to be Lawful Evil (even though his behavior seemed to lean towards Neutral Evil). This means that Nale is most likely somewhere in the Nine Hells, or even in Gehenna. However, this does open up the possibility that...

Nale will become a devil.

Sabine is the embodiment of the darkness in Haley's soul.
  • Why else would she be her evil counterpart in the Linear Guild?

Sabine will join the group that's plotting to overthrow Tarquin.
  • If there's anyone who has a chance against him, it's her.

Nale and Sabine will merge together and go one-winged angel.
Possibly the IFCC will have something to do with it.
  • Could happen as Nale has been killed by Tarquin

The real Thog will show up during the battle for Girard's Gate.
It makes sense considering Tarquin's now impersonating him...
  • He will also be working for/ with Hilgya who will be out for BLOOD.

Nale will get to meet his mother.
It makes sense considering Elan already got to meet his father...
  • That's gonna be kinda difficult, seeing as Tarquin killed Nale.

Sabine will create a new itineration of the Linear Guild... for the purpose of taking down Tarquin.
With her beloved boyfriend Deader than Dead at the hands of Tarquin, Sabine is the only one of the two who originally led the Guild alive. She has no real cause to continue harassing the Order of the Stick anymore — since the original Linear Guild/Order of the Stick conflict was based on Nale's overblown sibling rivalry with Elan — and every reason to want to crush Tarquin and his dreams. Once her banishment wears off and she can Plane Shift back to the Prime Material Plane, Sabine will set about gathering her own band of Anti Heroes and villains for the purpose of crushing Tarquin's dreamed-for empire and murdering the old man and his entire party.
  • I think that she'll probably join Amun-Zoras group.

Hilgya will return with scores to settle.
After Durkon disapproves of her leaving her husband, she runs off into the dungeon in tears, but we never see her die in the explosion. The flumphs survived, so not everything died, and we saw in "Go Team Cleric!" and before that she's pretty good at surviving. She says to Durkon, "They abandoned us both, you know", suggesting she's angry. Nale does say he lost three people, but he may just be assuming that because of the whole giant explosion thing. She will want revenge on Durkon (for rejecting her and thereby making her run deeper into the dungeon), Nale (for getting her in the mess and not caring about getting her out, even if she was only using him a quest for Loki), and Xykon (just because, really). A crazy cleric who hates the good guys and the bad guys seems too good not to use.
  • Alternatively, she will be pregnant with Durkon's child.
    • Confirmed as of strip 1105 Hilgya is back with a baby and wanting to kill Durkon
    • We may soon find out , her return seems imminent as of this comic. http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0581.html
      • "I'll get a message to him in the morning, then."
      • Which, I'm betting, is Hilgya's husband.
      • Except we already know that Hilgya's husband was a strait-laced Dwarf who never left the Dwarf lands.

Sabine will be Killed Off for Real
In the aftermath of a fight with the Linear Guild, it was established the characters weren't aware of what happens when outsiders die.
  • Later on, it's confirmed that killing an outsider renders them Deader than Dead. Knowing this, Haley will finally kill Sabine the next time she defeats her. (There's also the possibility that, since, Word of God states that the two are opposites in "a significant way which has yet to be revealed", Haley will be killed off for real as well. This clashes with the idea that Elan gets a happy ending, but maybe he'll eventually grow over it and find happiness somewhere else. However, this part is kind of a Poison Oak Epileptic Tree)
  • Outsiders can be Resurrected. Raise Dead specifically excludes outsiders.
  • Just checked the PHB: Raise Dead and Resurrection can't bring back outsiders, but True Resurrection can.

Sabine is a demon/devil hybrid.
In Nale's first plan to get revenge on Elan, he specified that the scissors would be neither silver nor cold iron, indicating that Sabine is weak to both. Sabine is a succubus with the half-fiend template, which is why she possesses the abilities of a succubus, but is with the Lawful Evil Nale, and is actually decent in combat. Her own alignment is probably Neutral Evil, which is why she works for the IFCC - as a hybrid, she's a natural agent.
  • She is with the Lawful Evil Nale because her superiors saw potential in him. Plus, there's always the possibility that she's supposed to corrupt him to Chaotic Evil (or try to see if CE and LE can coexist). Also, Rich did mention that he imagined Succubi would relish in their huge DR (remember, she ran the moment Haley punctured it in their first battle). Also, as a Chaotic entity, wouldn't bucking the expected norm be pretty standard? However, there's an alternative:

Sabine is a 3rd Ed/4th Ed Succubus Hybrid
She's a Succubus that teeters on both ends of corruption.

Hilgya will be Back for the Finale
Seeing as how Kraagor's Gate is in the Dwarven lands and its the only gate remaining, we might see her again there. She might've returned home after being rebuked by Durkon.
  • Heck, she might even have Durkon's kid for all we know.
    • Somewhat confirmed as of strip 1105 Hilgya is back with a baby and wanting to kill Durkon
  • Given that she's a cleric of Loki, who doesn't want the world destroyed and whose whims have been known to guide her actions before, she may well join forces with the Order to prevent Durkon's election fraud and/or the release of the Snarl.

Sabine is half-demon, half-devil
Both of Haley's arrows appear to have an effect to some extent...
  • No they don't. Haley's arrows piece her even when they're not made of the same material. She just shrugs them off.

Sabine dipped into the BOVD Prestige Class Soul Eater
She can drain levels by touch, which is outside the standard Succubus package. However, Soul Eater is a PrC that grants that ability at its first level, and the requirements are not too difficult for Sabine to qualify for.
  • Nonhumanoid: Outsider.
  • Any Evil: Literally an Evil Incarnation [of Illicit Sex].
  • +5 BAB: Succubi have 6 from their Outside HD.
  • 2 Ranks Knowledge Arcana: Rogues and Outsiders have boatloads of skills, and Succubi have Knowledge (any one) for their base skills. Meanwhile, she does have at least some knowledge of magical stuff, given how she seemed to recognize how Starmetal might have boosted Roy's damage output.
  • Feats: Alertness and Weapon Focus (Natural). The Alertness can be debated, but since it only grants a +2 to Spot and Listen, doesn't impact things too much. Meanwhile, she does seem to revel in claw-based melee combat.

Sabine and Hilgya are going to return soon
Hilgya...
  • Is likely in the Dwarven lands, same as the gate and the Dwarven Council
  • Is a follower of Loki, who doesn't want the gate destroyed
  • Already has a sort of history with Durkon, which would make it interesting if she ever met The High Priest of Hel
  • Could fill most of Durkon's clerical duties if the Order needs her to
  • Was something of a Token Good Teammate for the Linear Guild to begin with, and as such, is prime Heel–Face Turn material
    • As of 1105, she has returned, and appears to be about to join up with the Order as long as they don't reject her.
    • A Heel–Face Turn seems unlikely as this arc shows her being a petty, spiteful murderer and showcases her credentials as a Linear Guild member for taking disproportionate retribution on quasi-imagined slights.
Sabine...
  • Has some attraction to her lover's twin brother, and might help him because he reminds her of Nale
    • This has potential for some inner conflict, too, as Nale spent most of his time trying to kill Elan
    • Haley likely won't approve, either...
  • Has yet to have her character arc reach any kind of conclusion
  • Works for the IFCC, which has some enigmatic goals... but whatever they are, we're rapidly approaching the endgame and it'd make sense for them to have someone more competent than Qarr as their hands-on in the final stages
  • Would have an interesting mixed response if she tried to join the Order:
    • Roy: Probably among the more open-minded about the idea, but might be against it given his recent run of luck with "evil but beneficial" people on his team.
    • Haley: She'd be livid, given her long-standing rivalry and hatred for the succubus.
    • Vaarsuvius: The two of them have had civil dealings before, so the elf would probably be willing to allow her to join the team temporarily.
    • Belkar: Hot chick. And she's evil. Unless his Character Development factors into the decision, he'd probably be okay with it.
    • Elan: He'd be in a risky position, since he could easily connect Sabine's willingness to join them with Therkla's, and he'd be reluctant to ignore that. At the same time, Haley strongly disapproves, and the last time he went against her gut with that kind of thing was with Tarquin, which did not go so well.

Sabine isn't vulnerable to Starmetal
When facing her weakness, she immediately turned tail and fled, but when facing Roy she was willing to go at least several rounds. This would suggest that the sword isn't ignoring her DR. However, she's still taking damage because a high-strength two-handed fighter with Weapon Specialization using a weapon with +5 and can Power Attack without sacrificing too much offence can pile on the damage rolls. Sabine recognizes that Starmetal can enhance a sword so she deduced that her fake Starmetal story was true.
