The Disney Princesses and the Goddesses' Relics (Who? Whom? And which?)
- In Chapter 8, it is established the true villains of the piece: the Seven Sins, represented by seven villainesses. Some of them are Disney villains (Ursula for Greed, the Evil Queen for Vanity, Lady Tremaine for Envy, Maleficent for Rage/Wrath), leaving Berthalda (Lust), Quetzal (Sloth) and Hilda (Gluttony) as unknown variables.
- Secondly, it is also established that a goddess's relic manifests whenever a heroine defeats her female persecutor, and this victory is represented by a Virtue. Cinderella's glass slipper is one, and Ariel is said to own another.
- In that light, we have seven antagonistic pairs of a heroine and a villainess:
- Cinderella vs. Lady Tremaine - relic: the slipper
- Ariel vs. Ursula - relic: unknown as of this writing
- Aurora vs. Maleficent - relic: unknown at the moment
- Snow White vs. the Evil Queen - relic: unknown. This relation is deducible by virtue (ha!) of Grimhilde being one of the sins, and the relic representing a heroine's victory against the sin.
- This only leaves Berthalda (who originated in the Undine story), Quetzal (who is a cypher at the moment) and Hilda (who is a version of the cannibal witch from Hansel and Gretel).
- It is possible to assume that Hilda, being Gluttony, is opposed by Gretel of the original fairy tale, which means that Grimhilde, despite being one of the sins, can triumph over Gluttony and obtain her own Goddesses' Relic.
Carmilla/Mircalla, Snow White and her "Rose Red"
It is established that Carmilla/Dutchess Rougelle is a previous incarnation of the Goddesses' "Snow White" archetype (albeit existing along her next incarnation, Disney's Snow White). Dorian calls her Mircalla in chapter 8, which means she is the vampiress countess Carmilla from Carmilla. If every Snow White is born with her counterpart, Rose Red, and Carmilla is a Snow White, then character Laura from that book is the "Rose Red" of that incarnation.The identity of Quetzal
Quetzal is described both as a "Dreamer" (like Alice), and is helping the Disney heroines, but she is also a Sin (Sloth). Considering the name "Quetzal" is a possible reference to the Feathered Serpent deity Quetzalcoatl, from Aztec Mythology, her true identity may be one of the following candidates:- A young Yzma from Emperor's New Groove (the setting of the movie is the Incan Empire, but Disney lacks a relevant female antagonist of Pre-Columbian origin in their canon).
- Chel, from The Road to El Dorado (she would fit, since the film is set during the Spanish Age of Exploration, and El Dorado is presumably Aztec).
The three Arthurian sorceresses
They will be a Composite Character with the three witches from Macbeth.Maleficent's connection to Arthuriana
- She will be Vivienne/Ninive, the Lady of the Lake, and Argus/Lancelot's mother.
Dracula's interest in Aurora
- One of the premises of the webcomic is reincarnation: Snow White is a reincarnation of Carmilla, Cinderella is implied to the princess of The Princess and the Pea, and the Disney villainesses are reincarnations of other people.
- Maleficent is a reincarnation of the Sin of Wrath/Rage, which means Aurora's previous incarnation is the fairy's nemesis.
- Dracula admires a mannequin of Aurora, implying the princess is the reincarnation of a beloved character of his franchise.
- Based on the above premises, it's possible that Aurora is either Mina Murray or Lucy Westenra.
- Aurora seems to be a woman's reincarnation, alright, but as an extra (Ariadne's letter) reveals, a woman named Ariadne (also one of four "Dreamers") was Vlad's beloved and wanted to marry him.
The Four Chevaliers D'Or versus the Dreamers
Lewis Carroll is one of the four Chevaliers D'Or ("Four Golden Knights"), Dorian's four lackeys. It's possible for them to be counterparts to the Goddesses' four Dreamers (which include Alice and Quetzal):- Alice matches with Lewis (being his fiancée).
- Dracula/Vlad is also a member of the four Chevaliers, being the lover of Dreamer Ariadne and sighing over Aurora's lookalike mannequin. This makes Aurora, the Sleeping Beauty, one of the Dreamers.
- Kai, from The Snow Queen, is the third Chevalier.
