     Pre-Release
Peter Parker is dead.
  • The twist reveals that Peter Parker died between games and that Miles is going to have to be the one to protect New York now. Miles is just imagining Peter talking to him at certain parts, remembering old lessons. That, or the game will have Peter dying during this game.
  • Given the extent the developers were stressing that this wasn't the sequel to the first game (thereby implying that there will be sequel which would presumably star Peter) I would say that there is almost no chance that Peter is dead.
  • Possibly confirmed considering one of the trailers show Peter nearly beaten to death.
  • Peter is shown injured but given that interviews have said that he's going to Symkaria with MJ, along with the second bullet point, tells us that no Peter Parker is not dead.
    • Jossed in all of the above. Peter is still alive and serving as Miles' mentor. But he left NYC to take pictures for MJ oversea so he left Miles in charge.
  • That doesn't give a lot of hope for him for the future though. Peter dying IS one of Miles' motivations.
    • It should be pointed out that; A. The original version of Miles who had Peter's death as motivation for his Vigilantism is very different to the Miles in this game universe, most notably 1610 Miles (original comic) refused to use his powers and wanted nothing to do with vigilantism until he felt his inaction was partially responsible for Peter's death, whereas 1048 Miles (game) was eager to start being Spider Man and spent the entire city that never sleeps DLC eagerly awaiting training as Spider Man and in the game he's already active as Spider Man, and therefore Peter's death would be superfluous. B Miles already has had someone who died to pushed Miles onto his heroic path, Jefferson. C Even on Earth-1610, Peter eventually came back to life.
    • OK I didn't know A or C. Learn something new every day! Thanks!
  • Jossed. Peter is away on business with MJ, thusly leaving New York to Miles for the time being. He shows up in the prologue and epilogue, though, and can be heard throughout the game through occasional phone calls.

The Prowler will be the Big Bad.

  • Aaron may think, without his cop brother around, he will be able to reconcile with his family, as well as try and get Miles to help him commit crimes when he discovers his nephew's powers.
    • While Prowler may well function into the story it's unlikely he'd serve a mentor role, given that Peter was already mentoring Miles in the City that Never Sleeps DLC and would be a better choice as mentor given their comparable abilities.
      • I am not saying he would be a proper mentor, he would want to go back into his family's graces and be a self-serving Evil Mentor to Miles when he learns about his powers.
      • It'd be a bit heart wrenching to even try that without a redemption arc or Aaron dying and saying "Sorry Miles I was wrong, be the best hero you can be" at least.
      • Well the original Aaron of the comics was a self serving villain so it would be cool with Miles having to face that Aaron wasn’t what he thought he was.
    • The PS5 reveal implies that Tinkerer is the Big Bad.
      • Confirmed. She's the Big Bad with Simon Krieger being the Greater-Scope Villain.
    • Jossed. But he is working for the Greater-Scope Villain, Simon Krieger.

Aaron Davis will appear, but he won't be the main villain.
Contrasting with the above, Aaron will be a supporting character, but he won't appear as the Prowler. Instead, he'll just be Miles' cool uncle who is looking to reconnect with his family and is regretful over never reconciling with Jefferson. His criminal background and villain identity will be alluded to though, but he'll never suit up during the game. Or if he does, it'll only be for a Sequel Hook.
  • Confirmed. He indeed appears throughout the game as both Aaron and Prowler, but he isn't the villain. He is the dragon of the game's Big Bad, Simon Krieger, but you do fight him eventually.

The pink haired woman with the right arm gauntlet in the reveal trailer is Joystick
  • Neither confirmed nor jossed.

Mutants will make an appearance in the game
Specifically the brotherhood of mutants will play a minor role and buildup to a major plot point in the next game.

Possibly they'll be introduced as enemies with simple randomized abilities (Lightning, fire, ice, etc.) mixed with other quirks in the first game (Brute, melee, gun, shield, etc.).

  • Jossed. Neither mutants nor X-Men appear in the game.

Let's guess hero appearances
Don't go wild. This is only a standalone game similar to Uncharted: The Lost Legacy but here are some guesses:
  • Daredevil
  • Kitty Pryde
  • Luke Cage and Iron Fist
  • Jessica Jones
    • Jossed to all of the above. Miles is the only superhero in New York.

Peter will only appear in the game's opening.
In a twist reminiscent of that seen in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, the game's opening will have players playing as Peter's Spider-Man again, who's equipped with all the gadgets that the player unlocked while playing the first game as an Old Save Bonus. Then, once the sequence is over, the game will have the player take control of Miles' Spider-Man, who's equipped with only the Web Shooters.
  • The twist would be the fact we're playing as Peter at all since, unlike Raiden in Metal Gear 2, we know this is Miles' game.
  • Semi-confirmed. He appears in the prologue and epilogue (as well as a flashback scene before he knew Miles) and can be heard in phone calls.

Unlockable suits that can be crafted in this game will include:
  • Miles' Halloween costume from Into the Spider-Verse
    • Jossed, but the first suit you earn in the game is a copy of Peter's red and blue suit.
      • Actually it's based on the Halloween Costume Miles used in the comics until he got his iconic Black and Red suit, which was what the Spider-Verse costume Homaged.
  • Miles' official Spider-Man uniform from Into the Spider-Verse, complete with the hoodie
    • Confirmed, but the Spider-Verse suit doesn't have a hoodie. Other suits do have hoodies, however.
  • Miles' regular suit, but it's white and blue instead of black and red
  • A Q-Force Uniform, as a tie-in for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
    • Jossed. All of the suits are exclusive to the Spider-Man frachise.

Peter Parker will invoke Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond
In short, a character in one setting is significantly stronger or weaker than other characters due to the difference in power between the settings. Peter Parker was reasonably strong in the first game having to fight all the Sinister Six and Doctor Octopus. But since Miles and his enemies will be at a lower Power Level in this game, Peter will at one point come in and completely floor someone or will floor someone very powerful off screen. The audience will see how powerful and experienced Spider-Man is by viewing him from a younger hero’s perspective, similar to Raiden witnessing Snake in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.
  • Jossed and arguably the opposite of what happens in-game. As with other versions of the character, Miles has an expanded skillset (venom blasts and invisibility in addition to the usual Spider-Man kit) that arguably makes him stronger than Peter. In the climax of the game, he essentially causes the equivalent of a nuclear blast above New York City. Peter only shows up in the prologue and epilogue and is seen doing minimal fighting, the former of which has him getting his ass handed to him by Rhino, forcing novice Miles to fight him alone.

Peter will leave the city to help MJ in Symkaria.
MJ will get in some kind of trouble while she's covering the civil war there and Peter will drop everything to go help her, leaving the defense of the city in the hands of Miles. This will allow the game focus on and develop Miles without him being overshadowed by the older hero. Peter will only return (possibly with MJ) in the game's epilogue after Miles has dealt with the game's villains.
  • Confirmed, but not for the reason outlined above. He goes to help her with an assignment as her photographer.

The Wraith makes minor appearances in the game
More specifically Yuri Watanabe making brief appearances. The Wraith will not be a major character, because they are still new to the vigilante business.
  • Jossed. No character identifying as The Wraith appears in the game.

Peter will be in the city, working on another case during the game.
In the comics plenty of heroes, such as Luke Cage, Daredevil or Peter, will be having adventures at the same time all in New York without interacting. Therefore it's possible that Peter will just be hunting a different criminal while Miles focuses on the stories antagonist. This will be presented only in a series of phone calls, leaving it as a Noodle Incident. While not necessarily as interesting as him having headed off to Symkaria as suggested above it does open up the possibility of...
  • Jossed. Miles seems to be New York's only superhero while Peter is gone.

Peter will appear near the finale.
Near the climax Miles get's almost overwhelmed by Mooks only for Peter to swing in and help out. This will lead to a Back-to-Back Badass game play sequence. Then just before the final boss either Peter gets injured or is forced away, perhaps saving trapped civilians or dealing with Mooks, leaving Miles to face the Big Bad on his own.
  • Jossed. He returns after the final fight in the game.

Jessica Drew will appear.
In Miles' original stories in the Ultimate universe Jessica Drew was a significant part of Miles story, bringing Miles to S.H.I.E.L.D in the first place, delivering his suit, helping convince Miles to return as Spider Man, and then being a key member of the Young Ultimates alongside Miles. It could therefore be appropriate for her to appear in the game, perhaps in a side mission setting up for a later game. If they go for the Opposite-Sex Clone route of the Jessica that Miles originally interacted with, then she will be masked until the end of her section of the game, at which point she unmasks and Miles sees that she's a clone of Peter.
  • Jossed. Jessica Drew does not appear.

Prowler will be a Ghostface-style Collective Identity
Aaron Davis and Hobie Brown will both share the role so as to keep the audience guessing
  • Jossed. The Prowler identity is unique to Aaron Davis.

The Assessor will appear in one of the side missions
He'll take on Taskmaster and Screwball's role by giving Miles optional challenges to complete, with the goal of gathering data on Mile's capabilities.
  • Interviews suggest that Peter will be taking that role, having set training challenges for Miles.
    • Confirmed. Holo-Pete leaves training assignments for Miles throughout the city.
  • Jossed. The Assessor does not appear, but one of the photo mode frames takes the appearance of an issue from Saladin Ahmed's Miles Morales: Spider-Man run, in which The Assessor first appeared.

There will be another Venom stinger.
Perhaps to show Norman testing it on others (Eddie Brock for one), or just releasing a seemingly cured Harry just before something goes horribly wrong and causes him to become Venom.
  • Confirmed. It shows Norman demanding that Harry be released from his Venom pod against Dr. Conners' warning that he is not fully healed yet.

Gwen Stacy will make an appearance
  • Either a teenage version or one in college, that will become Spider-Gwen.
    • Jossed. Gwen Stacy does not appear, nor is she referenced.

Conversely: Gwen is the Tinkerer.
It's not a huge leap from the Tinkerer's color scheme to Spider-Gwen's comic costume, and the hood over the mask is another clue. The gameplay trailer implies that the game's plot is setting up a threeway battle between Miles, the Tinkerer and the Underground, and the Roxxon Corporation, and Roxxon has never been good news in the comics or its adaptations. Over the course of the story, it'll be revealed that the Tinkerer has good intentions behind her destructive activity, and by the end, she'll become a Black Cat-esque ally to Miles.
  • Jossed. See above.

The Tinkerer is a Legacy Character
They'll reference both Phineas Mason, the classic Tinkerer, and Elijah Stern, the Ultimate Tinkerer as having taken the role in the past.

Cloak and Dagger may have an appearance in the game.
In the Ultimate Marvel Universe Tandy and Tyrone first appeared in Miles' book, specifically in an arc where Roxxon was the antagonist, later going on to remain affiliated with Miles as a member of the Young Ultimates, until secret wars saw Miles folded into earth 616. Given that Miles is up against Roxxon in this game it may make sense to include them as characters. One possible option is that they begin as members of the Underground, afilliated with the Tinkerer to aid their war on Roxxon, until Miles talks them into a Heel–Face Turn.
  • Jossed. Cloak and Dagger do not appear.

The mysterious woman that we see is not the Tinkerer
The developers didn't outright confirm that the person we see is the Tinkerer.
  • Jossed. It's indeed Tinkerer.

Phin is the Tinkerer.
While we don’t know her last name, "Phin" is typically short for "Phineas", the Tinkerer's name in the comics. Additionally she alluded to an issue with her brother and Roxxon, is skilled with robotics, giving credence to her involvement with the Underground.
  • Confirmed. Her full name is indeed Phin Mason, and she is this universe's Tinkerer.

     Post-Release
Possible allusion to another Marvel character...
In the flashback section of the "Like Real Scientists" mission, Miles and Phin walk past scuba suits that bear a passing resemblance to the one worn by Moon Knight. This might a stretch, but the moon does affect ocean tides, so it could be intentional. It's not outside the realm of possibility for Moon Knight to appear in later games in some capacity, especially since Spider-Man and Moon Knight have history in the comics, and were even combined into the mashup character Arachknight...

This will eventually lead to Spider-Man: Gwen Stacy
Considering this game is a launch title on PS5, it would be a launch point for another Spider-Verse or to introduce Gwen Stacy getting her own spider powers.

Doc Connors is being blackmailed by Norman via treatment for the Lizard.
We know, from the first game's backpack tokens that Connors has been the Lizard before, and that he's been cured before, only for it to not last. It stands to reason that, having been seen in the post credits scene working with Norman on Harry, that Connors has once again been cured. It stands to reason that, if this cure isn't permanent then Norman is keeping Connors loyal by controlling his access to it. This could lead to...

In the next game Connors will align with the Spider-Men against Venom, only to turn back into the Lizard
