Possible future Hunter Programs
There are still quite a few Mega Man characters who could get added to the game as playable Hunter Programs. They'd have to be popular characters (track record shows that being female helps one's chances of getting in), and who are the right size to feasibly control in gameplay. Here are some examples:
- Double from X4. Round out the crew, they've already got all the other X4 characters!
- Dynamo from X5. He's a clear fan favorite, it's honestly a shock he's not in already.
- Confirmed!
- Berkana from Xtreme 2. More waifu material, need I say more? Plus the one of the series' only female antagonists.
- Gate from X6. One of the series' most infamous antagonists.
- Confirmed as of March 2, 2022.
- Red from X7. His design is undeniably cool, so give him a chance at redemption from his game's mixed legacy.
- Lumine from X8. Another infamous antagonist with a cool design.
- Green Biker Dude from X2. Let the meme come to life!
- Scarface from Command Mission. The coolest of the cadres can join Ferham.
- Spider from Command Mission. Again, another fan-favorite that surprisingly hasn't been added yet.
- Rafflesian from Command Mission. So there can be more representation of the game, plus another waifu.
- Cut Man from Mega Man 1. One of the most popular and recognizable Robot Masters ever.
- King from Mega Man & Bass. A super cool and unique Classic antagonist.
- Splash Woman from Mega Man 9. The only female Robot Master is prime waifu material.
- Roll.EXE from Battle Network. Get some more representation from that series, plus she's a girl.
- Confirmed as of November 23, 2021.
- Iris.EXE from Battle Network 6. Same as above.
- Phantom from Mega Man Zero. Sorry Fefnir, but Phantom is definitely more popular of the remaining Guardians.
- Vent from Mega Man ZX. Let him join Aile!
- Prometheus from Mega Man ZX. Let him join Pandora!
- Ashe from ZX Advent. For more Advent representation.
- Atlas from ZX Advent.
- Duo from Mega Man 8, who was also playable in Power Fighters
- Doctor Weil from Mega Man Zero
- Cyber Elf X from Mega Man Zero
- Serpent from Mega Man ZX
- Geo from Mega Man Starforce
- Confirmed, and he comes along with Harp Note and Rogue.
- Douglas from Mega Man X5
- GutsMan.EXE from Mega Man Battle Network. More representation for Battle Network and another heavy character like Massimo.
- OVER-1 from Rockman Xover. Even though his game was a failure, he could still potentially redeem himself here.
- Oro-S from Rockman Xover.
- Sera from Megaman Legends 2. One of the series' few female antagonists and final bosses.
- Yuna from Megaman Legends 2. One of Megaman Volnutt's female allies.
- Tron's older brother Teisel Bonne from Megaman Legends.
- Tron's younger brother Bon Bonne from Megaman Legends.
- Agile from Megaman X2
- Nana from Command Mission. Gotta have all the navigators in the X series playable!
- Confirmed as of April 28th, 2022.
Possible future variants of existing characters
There's no shortage of characters thus far, but some could still get additional variants, either as skins or separate new characters:
- Blade and/or Shadow Armor X from X6. In the case of only one armor per game, the second is more likely to be added.
- Shadow Armor X confirmed, as of September 19th, 2022.
- White Axl from X8. Could most likely be a skin instead of a separate character.
- Vile V from X8
- Swimsuit Leviathan and Ciel.
- Partially confirmed for Leviathan. She got a Festive (Yukata) variant, instead of a swimsuit one.
- Swimsuit Ciel confirmed, as of July, 2022.
- Armored Zero - based on the design sketch proposed for X4 but was unable to be made.
- Zero in his X1 version, armed with the Z-Buster instead of the Z-Saber. Could use hand-to-hand moves, like he does in Vile Mode of Maverick Hunter X and X8 with the K-Knuckle.
- Vent and Aile as adults from ZX Advent.
- Aile confirmed, as of August, 2022.
- X and Zero's X8 designs.
- X with the Rockman Holic armor, using sound-based attacks as shown in the anniversary music video.
- A Halloween version of Iris (or Iris -another-) based on her Ride Armor-like body from X4, which she can also use as a projectile like with Yukata Leviathan.
- Zero.EXE from Network Transmission.
- A version of Megaman Volnutt from Megaman Legends called Megaman Trigger based on when Megaman Volnutt served the System as a Purifier Unit.
- Chun Li with her Alpha costume. Could possibly be a skin.
- Massimo's Hyper Mode. Since Marino and Cinnamon already have theirs, he should have his as well.
- Chun Li transformed into the Shadaloo cyborg Shadow Lady.
- Christmas versions of Roll, Alia, Layer or Iris.
- Dark ProtoMan.EXE. Even better if he has his Axess anime appearance.
- Bass with a special weapon, similar to Thunder Beam Mega Man, or Rising Fire X. Perhaps Tengu Blade or Ice Wall could work for him.
- Christmas version of Dr. Light. He has the white beard required to pull off the Santa Claus look with ease!
Possible future crossover characters
The inclusion of Ryu and Chun Li now definitely widens the possibility for the character roster, adding characters from other Capcom franchises:
- Morrigan Aensland from Darkstalkers
- Mike Haggar from Final Fight
- Captain Commando
- Dante from Devil May Cry
- Partially confirmed, as X gained the X Dante Trigger form that is inspired by Dante.
- Leon S. Kennedy from Resident Evil
- Arthur from Ghosts and Goblins.
Possible future bosses
Then there are larger characters and Mavericks who could get added as bosses instead.
- Double from X4.
- High Max from X6.
- Rainy Turtloid from X6.
- Splash Warfly from X7.
- Bamboo Pandamonium from X8.
- The Life Virus from Battle Network.
- Semi-confirmed, as its resurrected form Life Virus R got added to the game.
- The Weapons Archive from 10.
- Mega Man Juno from Mega Man Legends.
- Geetz from Mega Man Legends 2
- Sera from Mega Man Legends 2
- Violen from Megaman X2
- Serges from Megaman X2
- Mr. King's Crimson Dragon form from Mega Man Star Force 3
- Dual Boss battle against the two timelines final bosses; original timeline final boss Second form Sera from Mega man Legends 2 and Battle Network timeline final boss Crimson Dragon from Mega Man Star Force 3

Some bosses may even be Promoted to Playable, as it happened to Magma Dragoon. For instance:
