    Pre-Release WMG
This page will fill with epileptic trees regarding the sixth numbered game of the Ace Attorney series.
  • Wait for it, it'll happen, especially after the release of the teaser trailer at the 3rd of September JP time.
    • The teaser trailer wasn't released at 3rd of September but rather at 16th of September, but nevertheless, confirmed.

It would turn out that the new prosecutor with butterfly motif is someone Apollo knows personally...
  • Like how Simon turned out to be Athena's childhood friend/companion!
    • Confirmed. Apollo and Nahyuta are foster brothers, raised by Nayuta's father.

PLOT TWIST: Apollo is related to that supernatural village thing aye!
  • Because it's about time they tackle the thing with Thalassa, Apollo and Trucy for real, as well as reveal Maya and give her an important role.
  • Note that the village thing is according to a Famitsu magazine page, and a few translations.
    • Confirmed in a way. His father was a musician, and he was performing in the Kingdom of Khura'in when he was killed. Apollo was with him at the time, so Apollo ended up with Nahyuta and his father.
    • Confirmed for Maya and Apollo alongside Trucy still do not know about Thalassa being their mother yet.

Both Gumshoe and Ema will return and serve roles similar to the ones they had before.
  • Though of course I like to think that Gumshoe at least already had a sort of promotion yeah. :-D
    • Well, Ema's back as a forensic scientist. It has yet to be seen if she's going to be the main detective of the game, though.
      • She is, but no Gumshoe, sadly.
      • But it's worth noting that optional dialogue with Edgeworth (presenting anything he doesn't have anything to say about) tells you Gumshoe is still a detective!
      • Still a incompetent detective, most likely, as his salary is being joked about being cut.

Something might've happened to Maya...
  • Because why else would Phoenix be damn, so damn, freaking, serious?
    • To be fair, his character art is no less serious than the art produced for Dual Destinies either. Last time his official art cracked a smile, to This Troper's recollection, was in the art for Justice for All (he's got a pretty determined expression in the Trials & Tribulations picture). That said he does have a sterner expression than per usual in 6 (Dual Destinies just gives him a more "I'm here to work" look on his face).
    • Jossed. Maya has been confirmed to return, and she's perfectly fine as ever.
      • Although the reason Phoenix went to the Kingdom of Khura'in was because he believed that Maya was in trouble.
      • And she gets put through a lot of peril over the course of the game.

A major plot point of the game will be Doing In the Wizard
  • While mysticism is not above Ace Attorney, the fact Phoenix thinks this court system is loony is probably going to involve pulling back the veil and revealing what the "water mirror" is really contributing to the court proceedings and that it's all a sham designed to enforce some specific outcome.
  • Jossed. Sort of. Some spiritual power is real but others claim it without actually having it and have to resort to trickery and blackmail.
    • It is not a sham but very much real. Phoenix adapts to the Water Mirror which Apollo then followed suit.

If Athena does show up the courts won't take her seriously.
  • Think about it. The courts are allowing Phoenix to play some sort of role. Why is that? Well, look at the Judge/Oracle in the scans, he has a Magatama! And Phoenix still has his freshly charged from Dual Destinies. Most likely they're not going to accept him as much as a defending attorney as a defending mystic. Now, why am I singling out Athena from not being played seriously, and not Apollo? Simple, Apollo wouldn't be... at first. And then he uses the Percieving power, and suddenly the court starts whispering about how Mystic Wright has a Mystic of a different kind as an apprentice. Athena on the other hand relies on technology. Sure, Nick might be able to lend her the Magatama for the case, but that's not the same thing as having experience with it.
    • I don't want to call this Jossed but perhaps sidestepped. Athena will show up but she looks like she's staying at home instead of joining Phoenix overseas, rendering the point moot.
    • Jossed for sure. Athena doesn't step in Khura'in's courts at all.
      • Athena DOES go to Khura'in in Case 5... but is forced to stay away from the trial because of how young she is and how dangerous the trial could get.
      • To be more specific, Phoenix did not want Athena to join because getting involved will cause her to lose her life if Phoenix and Apollo were to lose the case.

Maya will show up and will subsequently be accused of murder
  • Because there are Magatamas and if Maya shows up in a game, she's accused of murder.
    • Confirmed for Maya's return, but the jury's still out on her accusation of murder.
    • And now she's confirmed to be the defendant for case 3.
    • Maya is kind of a magnet for trouble, sort of. She was accused in the very 1st game, accused in Justice for All and Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney.

The Feys are originally from the kingdom of Khura'in.
  • And this game will further explain the origins of the Kurain Channeling Technique.
  • Seems likely, since the kingdom and the technique share a name. It can't be coincidental. Maybe a case will be set in the distant past, and clearly show us what Ami Fey looked like in her time?
    • Confirmed. The Feys moved from Khura'in to Japan and then the States. It's vaguely implied they were driven out for being practitioners of an art that is supposed to be for royalty only.

Maya will be central to the plot again.
After all, one of the new characters is the princess of the kingdom of Khura'in, and Maya is the Kurain Master of her village. She might travel to Khura'in for her own reasons, and happen to meet back up with Phoenix there. Hopefully they'll also get to team up again like in the Phoenix Wright Trilogy, even if for one case.
  • While Maya is rather important to the plot, she's not the centre of it. Apollo, for the most part, is.
    • And Maya did tag along with Phoenix again for the 3rd and 6th/DLC cases.

Maya is Princess Rayfa.
It's been a while since we've seen Maya; she's now somewhere in her 20s at this point in the series. Her body shape and hair color are close enough to the princess's to be considered. She could've had some sort of amnesia where she develops a new identity in a foreign country. This could have caused Phoenix to visit the Kingdom of Khura'in after finding out that Maya's "gone missing". As mentioned above, she could be your assistant after the reveal and help you out for at least one case. Oh, and the final case of the game would have her accused of murder, as per usual
  • Rayfa's eyes are light green, though, and she's 14. So this WMG doesn't look too good.
  • Unsurprisingly Jossed. Maya returns separately from Rayfa.

Maya is Princess Rayfa, in the sense that she's channeling her spirit.
The big endgame twist for the final case is that the real princess was murdered some time before Phoenix arrived, and Maya was called upon to channel her spirit in order to keep her death a secret. The last case will revolve around bringing the murderer to justice (and likely having to defend Maya from yet another accusation of murder once the truth comes out).
  • Jossed. Maya and Rayfa appear separately.

Ahlbi is your assistant for this game.
Could be a Captain Obvious, but it hasn't been confirmed yet. The only thing closest to an "assistant" we have so far is Apollo's confirmed return. This would also be the first time we've had a male assistant in the series, barring Gumshoe.
  • Jossed. Rayfa is your assistant outside of court because she wants to make sure you're not "fabricating evidence" or something.

Kay's mother comes from Khura'in.
Black hair and green eyes would appear a trend in Kurain. Kay, likewise, has black hair and green eyes, although her eyes are more emerald than mint.
  • Kay Faraday is somehow silently retconned or exclusive to Miles Edgeworth's spinoffs and that is never tackled in the main Ace Attorney games.

If the Feys do come from the Kingdom of Khura'in, they abhor the Feys, due to something Ami did.
No matter what version you play, Japanese or international, the Feys do not live in the Kingdom of Khura'in. At some point many years ago, they immigrated out. It's possible that Ami herself did this, as the Kingdom is aware of her technique and uses it, which is stated by Maya and Pearl to be unique to the family due to its difficulty. When Ami left, it was either because she was branded a traitor for some reason, or her leaving to spread word of her improved method was seen as treacherous. It's also possible that Ami was exiled because of her improvements to the technique, even though they were later adopted. As a result, people from the Fey family are seen as deceitful. I'd incline to her being framed for being treasonous, and one case deals with needing to prove Ami Fey's innocence. or even better- proving what she did that was so bad was actually for the greater good.
  • Somehow, that was not really addressed. But it was implied that the Feys did leave Khura'in for Japan/Japanifornia.

Morgan Fey, Dahlia Hawthorne, and Iris
will be involved in some way.
  • Jossed, they don't come back at all.

Larry will return, as Laurice Deauxnim.
It's been a long time since we've seen Larry and Phoenix together. Maybe he could be sketching some of the surroundings and wind up getting involved in one of Phoenix's cases.
  • Most likely confirmed. A teaser for a post-game DLC episode shows Larry is returning. Whether or not he will be Laurice again is up in the air but he is wearing a beret again.
    • Confirmed.

Phoenix Wright will be (or appear to be) the last case's murder victim in Ace Attorney 6
  • Previews have mentioned that Phoenix is being sent abroad to encounter strange new justice systems because he has run out of challenges at home. What better way to pass the torch than to do the unthinkable and kill him off? The magic mirror could be used to sell the idea that he's really gone, since most fans aren't going to believe Capcom would kill off Phoenix Wright.
  • So, naturally, this will lead to Apollo discovering that the mirror was replaced with a fake playing a recording (or discover it was fake all along), and that Phoenix actually did survive.
  • Well, Apollo's line in the trailer coupled with the fact that he's in the Khura'in court makes the possibility of SOMETHING happening to Phoenix likely.
  • Jossed.

Athena will be back home working on cases with Apollo.
  • We now know that Apollo will be in Japanifornia for most of the game, so where does that leave Athena? Having both the Water Mirror and the Mood Matrix in Khura'in would give court too many gameplay gimmicks, and not having the Mood Matrix in Japanifornia would make those cases comparatively boring, meaning Athena would have to be in Japanifornia.
    • Confirmed. Both Athena and Trucy will be in the game, and appear to be at one of Trucy's shows. Which presumedly will be in Japanifornia.
      • Athena even gets her own case with Simon!

Franziska Von Karma will prosecute the finale.
She's the one we see in the shadows at the end of the trailer. Apollo calls her "that person" because he knows her by reputation and expects a difficult opponent. And since she works with Interpol, her presence in a foreign country wouldn't be seen as odd.
  • Jossed.

The new prosecutor is Kristoph Gavin.
In the sense that he's being channeled. Kristoph opted for an early death (or was murdered. Or committed suicide) during DD. Found this theory on another site where someone was convinced they could see his braid in the final shot.
  • May we see the link?
    • I think I found what the troper was referring to. I wouldn't say the person was "convinced", though. It's right here.
    • Most likely jossed. The new prosecutor looks nothing like Kristoph.
      • There is most likely a new prosecutor for Japanifornia. Kristoph could convincingly be that prosecutor.
      • Nope, the new prosecutor is confirmed as being the one who Apollo faces in Japanifornia. If anything, we have yet to learn of a prosecutor for Khura'in. And that's only if there are two prosecutors as it is.
      • The new prosecutor is Nahyuta for both Japanifornia and Khura'in.

The new prosecutor is Kristoph Gavin's child
If Apollo does know this person, that would certainly explain how. As we've seen with Franziska from the original trilogy, seeing the child of a previous villain as prosecutor isn't without precedent. It would be an interesting motivation if they hold a grudge against Apollo and/or Phoenix for exposing their father's crimes.
  • Jossed. The prosecutor for both Japanifornia and Khura'in is Nayuta.

The new prosecutor is Jinxie Tenma.
Okay, this may sound impossible, but considering the trailer, the prosecutor was making a hand sign similar to the canine symbol that The Amazing Nine-Tails makes. Plus, Apollo said that he knows this character, which can reference The Monstrous Turnabout.
  • Jossed. The new prosecutor looks nothing like Jinxie.
    • There is most likely a new prosecutor for Japanifornia.
      • He IS the new prosecutor for Japaniforma, who'll be facing off with Apollo.
      • The new prosecutor is Nahyuta for both Japanifornia and Khura'in.

English Name Translations:
  • Bokuto Tsuani: Woody Sabre (He's named after the murder weapon of the case, which is a wooden training sword.)
    • Jossed. His official English name is Ahlbi Ur'gaid (I'll be your guide).
  • Mima Waruhito: Trey Suregard (Treasure Guard)
    • Jossed. His official English name is Paht Rohl (patrol).
  • Nayuta Sadmadhi: Justin Funerale (Because his sense of justice revolved around death)
    • Jossed. His official English name is Nahyuta Sahdmadhi, making it almost the same as his Japanese one (since his name is a reference to a Sanskrit word rather than a Japanese pun).

There will be two new prosecutors
We already know the prosecutor at the Kingdom of Khura'in, but we know that Apollo and Athena will be back in Japanifornia. There will most likely be a second prosecutor in Japanifornia
  • Jossed. Said new prosecutor is the prosecutor for Japanifornia, not Khura'in. The prosecutor we don't yet know about is the who Phoenix will face in Khura'in. If, indeed, there even is a separate one for both places.
    • Actually, Nayuta is the prosecutor for both Khura'in AND Japanifornia.
  • Confirmed, actually. There is Nahyuta Sahdmadhi, and his superior/the queen of Khura'in, Ga'ran Sigatar Kurain, who joins him in Case 5.

The Japanifornia prosecutor is Simon Blackquill.
The prologue anime shows him facing off against Phoenix and Athena in court. I can't imagine he's only there for a minute cameo. And their trial got suspended another day, which implies it could be concluded within the game.
  • Although he's not the Japanifornia prosecutor, he does appear in Case 4 as a witness and Athena's co-council.
  • As mentioned yourself, Simon is Japanifornia's prosecutor. But only in the Anime prologue. After that, Nahyuta is the one who takes on both Japanifornia and Khura'in's prosecutor roles.

Maya will be a victim, and is going to be killed off
You know, because in the latest trailer, a guy with a knife was seen clearly lunging at her, and someone called her name out. Let's be honest, what would shock, upset, and piss off fans more then bringing Maya back, only to have her get murdered. The writers know everyone wants to see Maya again. Killing her off just after bringing her back would be the perfect way to escalate the "personal" factor the player feels in fighting against the game's "big bad". Would also be a case of Capcom telling us to be careful what we wish for.
  • To further this, in the trailer Maya seems to be talking to Ahlbi Ur'gaid. He might get accused of her murder, and Phoenix has to see Maya's final moments alive to prove he didn't do it.
    • That last part is Jossed; a person on Youtube has uploaded a subtitled version of the "demo", and the victim isn't Maya, it's the guard who was tasked with guarding a treasure box. The jury is still out on whether Maya will be killed off in general, but she isn't the first case's victim; Ahlbi is accused of murdering a guard.
  • Maya doesn't die, but she is kidnapped in Case 5.

The game will tie up all the loose ends from the previous two games, plus all the hanging points from the original trilogy and tie them all together into an epic grand finale that clears up the entire series.
This includes who Apollo's father is, Apollo and Trucy finding out their siblings, the Phantom's real identity, who sent the Phantom in the first place, Athena's unexplained ability (since Metis was surprised by her power, it wasn't a genetic thing. So it must have come about somehow), the strands of the dark age of the law, the Fey family frueds, Ami Fey and her origins, the actual origins of the channeling technique, etc, etc. Basically it'll wrap up every single thing.
  • Confirmed only in regards to Apollo's real father.

Connected to the above point. This means this game is planned as the final one, at least out of the main titles.
It's sad, but I get the feeling that's what they've been planning for this game. Everything just screams "send off finale" about how they've presented everything. Plus with it's setting, characters, and how there's basically no way they can ever top themselves when it comes to the extreme spike in difficulty this game's gonna present in universe. Phoenix has to literally discredit the fact the victim saw the defendant murder them. There's no way at all to top something like that.
  • Jossed to the max. Although no news for now, there is the stinger that Phoenix mentioned to Thalassa that it is time to let Apollo and Trucy know about their relationship... in the 7th game.

Nayuta (the new prosecutor) is a Fey who changed his last name for some tragic reason
Could be why he's so spiritual-men don't get their powers, but if a direct female relative of his is a spirit medium, he knows damn well ghosts exist and that he's doing them a service by convicting their murderers. Why he hides his lineage is unknown to me, but I'm betting he may be a brother (or son, if the writers are in a very dark mood) of Dahlia's, and he, understandably, would like to forget she and her mother ever existed-either theory probably resulted in some hideous treatment.
  • Jossed.

The final case of the game will involve the two settings crossing over somehow
That is characters from one setting will end up participating in a trial from the opposite court system. It's probably going to be Apollo and Athena going to Khura'in, thus allowing Athena to use the Mood Matrix in a Khura'in trial while they will have to adapt to the Water Mirror.
  • Confirmed. Apollo appears in the Khura'in court in the final shot of the trailer.
    • Jossed in regard to Athena. Phoenix has her step aside while he acts as Apollo's assistant during the trial.

Maya is gonna fall in love with Nayuta.
After seeing the prologue anime, where Nakuta saves Maya from being killed/kidnapped with a knife, and she just stares and asks Ahlbi who he is, it seems plausible tfor them to have some in-game tension. Plus it would make for some VERY interesting court battles/general interactions. Plus Phoenix can get really annoyed and Capcom gets the added bonus of dropping a Ship Tease or two.
  • Jossed to the max. Maya saw Nahyuta as nothing more than her savior, similar to how she saw Godot who saved her before.

Any spiritual power Rayfa has is actually quite weak.
As we've all seen, coming from a spiritually powerful family does not a medium make. Necessarily, anyway. Either Rayfa doesn't know, and her family did the hiring, or she does know and recruited someone else (a sibling? A servant? Maya?) to power the Spirit Mirror. Thing is, that person has an agenda and has been putting false things into the mirror all along. They may even be the Big Bad. And, of course, Phoenix has to prove this, effectively Doing in the Wizard, in the finale.
  • While not really extremely relevant for most of the game, confirmed. Rayfa has less spiritual power than Pearl did at 8, considering she's unable to channel spirits and the DS completely wears her out. It's the reason she's not able to be a full-fledged queen at the post-game.

Potdino Niwakas is the murderer in Turnabout Foreigner.
He's a witness in the first case which are normally the villains, and since there's only been one exception to the rule thus far this seems likely. Not to mention he seems the most pissed about Phoenix defending Ahlbi. And there's a lot of potential for a crazy breakdown involving that instrument he carries.
  • Confirmed.

Mitamaru is the murderer in Turnabout Foreigner.
The container isn't actually the murder weapon. Mitamaru somehow made the victim die, and to cover up for his beloved dog, Ahlbi planted blood onto the container. This would also explain why Ahlbi keeps telling such damaging lies, and why Ahlbi has seen the container and knows what it looks like, yet tries to cover that fact up. In the last four Ace Attorney games, the first witness being a crook has been used but both times have had subvertions of some sort (In AAI, the first witness took part in the fake assassination plot but didn't kill anyone, in the fourth game the witness was in cahoots with the victim but didn't kill him. In the fifth, the witness did kill the victim, but they weren't the one who blew up the courtroom. In DGS, the first witness is trying to pin the blame on the defendant but isn't the murderer), so it seems unlikely they'd just play it straight this time.
  • Jossed.

Rayfa will be the victim of the final case
As someone with such a powerful influence on the court system, and set up to be a major character, her death could easily tie into the game's biggest mystery. There's also the sheer irony of her own mirror system now being used to show her last moments. This could lead to Maya taking over as the medium for the trail, and maybe becoming the new spiritual leader of Khura'in to lead to country to a better future.
  • Jossed.

Apollo will finally find out his real relationship to Trucy in the game's second case.
Namely that they're half-siblings. It seems strange to have gone through two games without him knowing, but with her seemingly not being Demoted to Extra this time and being the defendant of the second case, with Apollo as her laywer, the reveal could add to the drama. Additionally, her pendant is focused on in Famitsu scans and the Gramayre troupe is referenced again. They wouldn't bring back references to her heritage if they weren't going to do something with it.
  • While I'm not necessarily against the idea, I say if they're going to do it, they need to do it right and try to wrap Thalassa Gramarye/Lamioir into the plot as well. I don't know if Turnabout Magic Show will be the best vehicle for that.
    • Jossed, but the ending implies the subject might be brought up as a Sequel Hook.

The game will be a crossover with Ghost Trick
We know that Ghost Trick takes place in the same universe as Ace Attorney, but we have no idea whether it takes place in the past, present or future of Ace Attorney. Maybe the new setting will tie in to Ghost Trick and its characters, like the blue-skinned foreigners.
  • I don't mean to burst people's bubbles with this, but despite it for some reason being a commonly held belief that Shu Takumi confirmed that Ace Attorney and Ghost Trick take place in the same universe, he never actually did. This misinformation likely comes from the fact that Takumi stated in a number of interviews that Ghost Trick is basically an extension of Ace Attorney, in terms of it's look and feel. From an in-universe perspective they're completely unrelated. That being said, he did express his interest in a possible crossover between the two. However the idea of said crossover being a main series canon title is close to zero, unfortunately.

Rayfa will be the defendant of the final case
Going with the same logic that could make Rayfa a good victim in the final case, the fact she herself will be tested by the water mirror that she otherwise put so much faith in will change her. Having to endure what the defendants whom she damned through her own revelations will change her opinion of relying on something that could easily be misinterpreted over hard evidence and firm logic.note Then again...
  • Not to toot my own horn (this was a WMG I posted) but I think the fact that Rayfa's father is the Minister of Justice in Khura'in only strengthens the possibility this is true. It seems like an easy source of conflict to pit Rayfa against her father in the courtroom where he argues what the oracle says is firm, even if it has bad consequences for his daughter, and she proclaims her innocence.
    • False.

The public's lack of faith in the police will be a major plot point in Apollo and Athena's story
Finding out that an international spy and murderer had gone undetected in the police department for seven years would surely erode the public's faith in their competence. Add this to the fact that they never seem to catch the culprit, and the actions of previous Dirty Cops like Damon Gant and Daryan Crescend, and nobody has much reason to trust the cops.
  • Somewhat jossed. It was never brought up.

Nayuta will take a case Klavier was originally going to prosecute, with Apollo defending
Klavier will be very sulky at missing out on going up against "Herr Forehead" but will end up having several great comedic scenes with Nayuta, who is baffled by Klavier's friendship with Apollo. That's why Chief Prosecutor Edgeworth let him nab Klav's case: he wanted Nayuta to see what a prosecutor who seeks justice actually acts like, and Klav's just the nice guy to do it.
  • Jossed.

Apollo will die
I mean, the game IS called "Spirit of Justice".
  • Jossed.
    • And that SPIRIT of Justice is JOVE Justice who proved a vital clue to the final case.

Ahlbi will be a Sacrificial Lamb
You will manage to rip apart the prosecution's case and prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Ahlbi is innocent... and then the judge will declare him guilty anyway and have him executed right in front of your eyes just to show how completely fucked up Khura'in really is.
  • Thankfully jossed.

The character getting married in the Post-Game DLC
A teaser for the post-game DLC reveals that someone is getting married and gives us a few clues.
  • Character's Japanese given or last name starts with an "M"
  • Said character has to have appeared in both Gyakuten Saiban games AND Ace Attorney Investigations (When Edgeworth brings up that Maya is a likely candidate as well, Phoenix counters with this. Her background appearances likely don't count)
  • It's not Larry Butz (Because the trailer goes out of it's way to say it's not him)

This narrows down the list to:

  • Miles Edgeworth (Mitsurugi Reiji)
  • Franziska von Karma (Karuma Mei)
  • Maggey Byrde (Suzuki Mako)
  • Gregory Edgeworth (Mitsurugi Shin) (it is a time-travel episode, after all)
  • Missile (Misairu)?!

Now it doesn't end there. See, this being an Ace Attorney game, there is going to be a murder and someone is going to be implicated in it. That person could most likely be the one getting married. Now who would be unlucky enough to get charged with murder on her wedding day? Who else but Maggey!

  • And if it IS Maggey, that means that Gumshoe could very well be the victim.
  • Jossed. It's confirmed to be Larry.
    • Have you guys forgotten that Larry's Japanese name is Yahari Masashi?

Athena will be the main attorney for the final trial
  • It seems odd that Athena would go through a good bit of development as an attorney in Dual Destinies, and then suddenly just get demoted to being Apollo's assistant. So the proposal is that she will showcase her growth by being the one to finally implicate an extremely persistent killer, most likely taking over after Phoenix and Apollo both gave the case their own best shots.
    • Jossed. But she does get a case all to herself. In a twist, she's assisted by Blackquill.

Miles Edgeworth will go to Kura'in to testify about how his father's testimony was inaccurate.
  • If you're going to assume the last thing a dying person sees is the truth, what better counterexample than Gregory Edgeworth? Besides, Miles ended Dual Destinies feeling indebted to Phoenix, and it would help balance the books if he could help dismantle this ludicrous "trial" system.
    • Except Gregory was just channeled by a medium, and we only had his word. There wasn't anything like the Spirit Mirror, which outright SHOWS what the victim's last sights were.
    • Gregory was unconscious when he died. The last thing he felt and saw wasn't the last actual moment of his life.
    • Jossed. He is there just because he chartered a private jet to transport Phoenix and Co. to Khura'in just in time.

One of the characters introduced in one the cases will turn out to be the main antagonist of the game...
  • But not just the antagonist, the MAIN antagonist that was responsible for most of the tragedies that occurred between Justice For All and Dual Destinies (The Investigations games included). Why? The reason it that it could be a possible relative to one of the biggest monsters of the series, which is either Manfred von Karma or even Kristoph Gavin. They, who in their eyes anyways, want to take revenge on the protagonists for all the "suffering" they made them endure, not just Phoenix, but also Apollo, Athena and even Edgeworth. Things like; the whole ordeal of Engarde and Corrida, the Fey family feud, the personality of Gavin, the phantom's attacks and even the Dark Age of the Law, is all attributed to them, just to get revenge. And by taking in account for a previous WMG, they will unleash a plan so monstrous that makes the actions of Gavin and Karma look sane; use a forbidden spell of Khu'rain, in which by tying with the whole situation of a place where being a defense attorney is forbidden, will make the whole world murder all the defense attorneys and justice seekers to make sure the side of aggression triumphs, and one step of it involves channeling Dahlia Hawthorne once again. But hey, knowing Dahlia, she will also have her own schemes in the game. She would eventually take over the villain's body and while change the spell to kill anyone who is a lawyer to kill EVERYONE WHO HAS A GOOD SOUL, all just to spite Wright and Humanity for what they did to her. The reason for this Even she may gone to hell in the ending of Trials and Tribulations, the whole disbarment of Phoenix might gave her the power to secretly rise again in the shadows. This will to a epic final case in which when everything seems hopeless, Maya Fey and probably other mediums will pull out their trump card by channeling the dead spirits of the deceased people the protagonist had the most love (Mia to Phoenix, Gregory to Edgeworth, Metis to Athena and Clay to Apollo) and defend themselves from Dahlia's influence. This will eventually culminate in the Mother of all Turnabouts, exaggerated yes, but would cool enough to happen.
    • That sounds a bit TOO over the top, if you ask me.
    • Jossed to the Max. Queen Ga'ran

The fourth case will star Athena and have Apollo as the defendant.
  • This is mainly due to Simon Blackquill being the co-council at some point. As no one else is seen with him, chances are either Apollo or Athena is unavailable, and Apollo still hasn't had his turn in the defendant's seat.
    • Jossed. While the case involves Athena and Blackquill working together, the defendant is someone new and someone Blackquill knows.

    Post-Release WMG
The reason Apollo was left in America (6-5 SPOILERS)
  • Apollo didn't know about Rafya - which means that Dhurke dropped him off in America before he freed Amara. Dhurke knew Apollo was American (since he knew his father) and probably felt he could get Apollo a better life than being a constantly on-the-run fugitive. After leaving Apollo in America, Dhurke rescues Amara, has another kid with her, and then her and the baby were promptly abducted again. Being on the run for the abduction, as well as trying to lead a revolution that didn't end as soon as he had planned, meant that Dhurke never had the time to see Apollo again until it was too late.
    • Somewhat confirmed as that's most likely how things would go and semi-averted for Dhurke not being able to see Apollo again as he got to do so by being summoned via Maya Fey after he was killed by Inga.

(FINAL CASE SPOILERS) The origin of Apollo's perception talent.
  • Apollo's Perception powers (and the Gramarye clan's, by proxy) might be from Khura'in/the Fey clan, or distantly related. In the final chapter, when Apollo attempts to use his bracelet on Nahyuta, the latter makes his usual prayer (Satora imaoman domosamashi detashinuke taregasayo sonoka!) which basically cancels out the bracelet and renders Apollo unable to Perceive Nahyuta's habit. A Khura'inese prayer rendered Apollo's bracelet worthless. This is possibly a hint that, sometime in history, the Gramaryes must have branched from the Fey clan, or the kingdom of Khura'in, and carried a tiny fragment of the Khura'in power: to know when someone is lying or hiding secrets. The Gramarye's version is unpolished but instinctual, but the Fey clan's version (Magatama) is stronger and spiritual in origin. The methods are different, but the objective is the same.
    • OBJECTION! You are forgetting Apollo's ability is genetic. That is, it's part of Apollo himself, not his bracelet. He doesn't NEED his bracelet to perceive. It helps, but it isn't needed. Trucy, for instance, can perceive just fine without it. Apollo was stopped by the pain of having his wrist crushed by the metal tightening, just like what Nahyuta does with his rosary. It's not like Nahyuta rendered the bracelet inert or anything, he did something to break Apollo's concentration that he's done before with something else from across a room. Something Simon did using Taka. The incantation/prayer seems to have that effect, and that alone- to make something tighten around someone. Apollo could have perceived Nahyuta if he'd taken the bracelet off and Nahyuta had stayed to talk after, but he didn't.
      • OBJECTION! Fair points, but by that logic, Phoenix and Maya wouldn't need the Magatama to see Psychelocks. Nahyuta's prayer broke his concentration, fine, but it still affected Apollo and/or directly- and he didn't even throw the prayer beads like the other times. This at least implies some sort of connection with Khura'in- which explains why Nahyuta's prayer even worked in the first place when it technically shouldn't have. Plus, the situations are completely different: Simon literally threw his bird at Apollo. It's not the same as asking a higher power to blind Apollo's senses temporarily! Then again, this is an outrageously strange theory that might even be jossed eventually, or already has. But the scene leaves you thinking anyway: Could the Gramarye clan's talents be related to Khura'in?
      • What Nahyuta did was simply throw his perceive ability off by making it purposefully have a strong reaction. It's got absolutely nothing to do with the contents of the prayer itself, or even with Apollo's bracelet. Anyone would be able to do the exact same thing using any method in which they're making themselves purposefully tense. Nahyuta simply researched into Apollo's ability and exploited how it works by making himself get worked up through his prayer chant. That's all there is to it. He even out right says this in the game. Simon using Taka to distract Apollo is completely different as well. That's just making it impossible for Apollo to use his ability by making him not be able to focus. This is a case of someone activating it on purpose.
      • OBJECTION! If that was the case, then the effect would be similar to the effect that the Phantom's faking of his emotions had on Athena's Mood Matrix: multiple simultaneous false positives. *desk slam* Instead, the effect was more akin to that of a overload of all 4 emotions simultaneously; or even worse: a response so strong... *points* that it would break Widget! What happened was that Nahyuta manipulated Apollo's bracelet... *desk slam* He didn't impact Apollo's Power, he impacted a Material Possession! Which, instead of speaking to the nature of the Gramarye Perception Power... *points* implies that Nahyuta has some mystical power of his own... Not solely tied to his beads!
      • No, because the Mood Matrix program and Apollo's perceive ability work in completely different ways. Apollo's bracelet cannot detect multiple reactions at once, whereas the Mood Matrix fundamentally works by doing just that. Apollo's bracelet tightens on his wrist because his power is reacting. His power reacts by picking up tension in a person. You make yourself insanely tense on purpose, you fool the bracelet and make it insanely tight on his wrist. That's all there is to it. It's different to what the Phantom did, he wasn't "overloading" Widget, he was fooling Widget (Athena to be specific, given how Widget works) by flickering his emotions on and off. But, when it came to the the strength of the fluctuations, they were still the same as any normal one. Whereas Apollo's bracelet got "overloaded" by Nahyuta's purposefully high tension, and became incredibly tight.

The final villain is an agent of the Spider Clan
  • Let's see-spider motif, masking herself in "honorable" behavior, complete selfishness, traitorous, obsessed with gaining a power she can't have...it fits with someone recruited by them after they played on their envy of someone higher in station. Given Ga'ran's lack of mutations and powers, she's probably a maho-tsukai who used it to make herself supernaturally charismatic to her men, but couldn't start cutting her arms open and unleashing blood spells in public, lest she be arrested and burned at the stake. She's probably faking her Holy Mother delusion while she quietly works on a plan to flee to whatever Khura'in's Shadowlands are.
    • Not related whatsoever. It's more of a symbolism as usual. Her motif being a spider and the queen of Khura'in is in some way like everything and everyone are trapped within her web and like most bugs, once stuck, they are not able to get free and could only face doom until a spanner is thrown in the works so that everyone caught in the web will be free.

(POST-GAME SPOILERS) Khura'in will set up an international program to invite more defence attorneys to practice there.
  • The final shot of Apollo shows how swamped he is in handling nearly every case in the country. Along with setting up formal law schools to train new defence attorneys, Khura'in will need to appeal to international lawyers to deal with the immense backlog of cases.
  • This means that some Japanifornian lawyers will likely go there for extended periods of time; maybe minor characters like Raymond Shields or Hugh O'Connor, or even some of the main cast. It would give a reason for Phoenix or Athena to handle a case with Apollo again.
    • Phoenix and gang will most likely visit Apollo again due to the Stinger in the credits, being about time to reveal to Apollo and Trucy who their mother is.

Minister Inga is Pearl's father.
  • So Pearl is most likely the best channeller we've seen in the series being able to effortlessly summon spirits from her own family before the age of 10. Something that takes intense years of training for everyone else. This of course is no mistake as Morgan specifically made her to be this way after being disappointed in Dahlia and Iris' potential. She found someone that had better spiritual genetics so to speak. And where better to find someone with spiritual potential than Khura'in? Why Inga, well he's the only one in the male age bracket that I find likely. He also seems like Morgan's type more so than anyone else. (There's also the Asinine Attorney where Pearls gets mistaken for Rayfa Even though Rayfa shares no relation to Inga...the theory made more sense before I finished the game...).
    • One big problem: Inga isn't a member of the Khura'in royal family by blood. Even if he was a female, he would still be unable to channel spirits because he isn't a direct descendant of the Holy Mother.
    • True but people in Khura'in likely have more spiritual power than the rest of the world. If there was a male member of the royal family in the right age range you can be sure I'd jump on that for a theory.
      • So far, men were never, ever shown to have spiritual powers, almost as if it is exclusive to women. However, something jossed that. Morgan has little to no spiritual power at all so that can mean there will be men who indeed have spiritual powers, just that we are not introduced to one yet. Also, that Asinine Attorney is completely non-canon and something just for fun. As for Inga being Pearl's father is jossed to the max. However, it is still up in the air on whose Pearl's father truly is. Inga could be the stepfather instead but even that is still a mystery for the time being.
      • However, Maya, Mia, and Morgan all explain that only the females can channel, not the males. It could be possible that once in a blue moon, a male who could channel will be born, but otherwise, it's impossible.

Dhurke will be a playable character in a future game in the series.
  • He was, after all, once a lawyer who was famous for turning cases around. There could be a flashback case taking place in those days.
    • Kinda like how Gregory was playable in Case 3 of Investigations 2.
    • And kind of like Mia Fey. Besides, all three defense attorneys were murdered by Manfred, Redd White and Inga, chronologically speaking. For now, it's still up in the air.

After the game's events, The Plumed Punisher received a retool.
  • Now that Dhurke had been posthumously cleared, it wouldn't be right to base the show's villain on him. So, the villain might end up making a Heel–Face Turn, becoming a hero known as "The Defiant Dragon", and teaming up with the Plumed Punisher against a new villain, possibly one based on Ga'ran. (That prosecutor outfit would fit an evil witch character pretty well, wouldn't it?)
    • Or it's revealed he was forced under the new villain's control the whole time, only to finally be saved by his son and his amazing ability to blow enemies away using only his voice.

Khura'in will be the future settings from now on.
  • Khura'in is basically a combination of Tibet/Nepal with some Chinese culture, including enjoying making a blatant copy of Foreign TV shows. By moving the story mostly if not entirely to Khura'in, Capcom can sweep Japanifonia under the rug. They just need to add a big city with skyscrapers to mimic Shanghai/Hong Kong etc.
    • Most likely jossed. Phoenix and gang have to apply citizenship if they wish to stay. Plus, Phoenix and gang cannot just leave Japanifornia alone to criminals.

Larry has a very hot younger sister.
This I say only because I'm beyond disappointed they didn't make Ellen his younger sister, considering how similar they act when emotional. And because it'd be funny if the prettiest woman in the entire series was, in fact, Larry's personal Annoying Younger Sibling. Who is, in fact, just as boy-crazy as he is girl-crazy and just as emotional under her businesslike exterior that makes people initially not believe she's Larry's sister.
  • None of the three childhood friends seemed to have actual siblings by blood and we have never seen any of their family members in person so Larry having a sibling or not is still up in the air for now.

The next game with be in Athena's POV.
Dunno if this should go here, but I feel like the next game could be in Athena's POV. Either focusing on her growth as a lawyer like 6-4 started, or maybe having the plot centre around Apollo and Trucy learning about their sibling relationship.
  • Athena's focus was in Dual Destinies so most likely not. However, she may have a bigger role than she did in Spirit of Justice.
    • Apollo got focus in all three games of the second trilogy, and Phoenix got focus in the original. Plus, Athena needs character development. Right now, she's worse as a lawyer than Phoenix was in the same position, her second case. She requires the help of someone to even start a case, let alone solve it, whereas Phoenix could fight against Edgeworth for a full day without any assistance.

There will be some kind of Prosecution Culpability Act next.
And the one responsible will be a vengeful relative/friend of a Wrongly Accused person and/or their attorney. Bonus points if someone like Gaspen Payne falls Asshole Victim to it.
  • Not original. That's all. It's basically just a reverse of the Defense Culpability Act.
  • The Defense Culpability Act already could be interpreted to apply to anyone who helps criminals, just like Nahyuta found out in the second case of Turnabout Revolution.
  • The gist could be "If a prosecutor is discovered to have convicted an innocent person, then that prosecutor must serve a sentence equal to the harshest punishment that he or she has caused an innocent person to suffer." At first, it would be a major Catharsis Factor against corrupt prosecutors like Gaspen... however, it would turn out to be a problem in the long run, as even good prosecutors unaware of convicting innocents would become subject to this — not to mention that crime would naturally go up because too many prosecutors would start getting paralyzed by fear of convicting the wrong people. And the one responsible could be a Tragic Villain Foil to Ga'ran — too blinded by Revenge Before Reason against prosecutors due to some Miscarriage of Justice in the past.
  • Extremely unlikely, since the new rulers of the country, Rayfa and Nahyuta, with Apollo helping to improve their entire legal system aren't people who would allow this to happen, especially considering that one of them is a prosecutor and a dear brother to the other two. So not happening unless there's yet another revolution or unless it happens in another country, which would be a ridiculously tautologic move on Capcom's writers' part.

The reason Nahyuta acts like a Jerkass towards defense attorneys and defendants.
Is because Ga'ran enjoys forcing Nahyuta to act against his morals. Given the way Ga'ran treated Rayfa, it wouldn't be surprising if she also enjoyed torturing Nahyuta. Even if Nahyuta was prosecuting outside of Khura'in, Ga'ran likely had spies keep an eye on him to make sure he followed her orders. The reason Nahyuta acted like how he did is because of Ga'ran blackmailing him as not only Rayfa but his mother Amara will be in danger if he does not obey her.

Ga'ran had spies watch Nahyuta all the time.
Since Nahyuta was a member of the Defiant Dragons, it would be perfectly logical to keep an eye on him at all times. She couldn't afford to let Nahyuta out of her sights, because that would give him an opportunity to communicate with the rebels.
  • Confirmed... although he had to temporarily yield.

Turnabout Storyteller was originally intended to be the first case of the game.
It also would have followed more closely to the anime prologue and have Phoenix as the main defending attorney, rather than Athena, and Blackquill as prosecutor. This reasoning mostly comes from the fact that this case has no investigation phase, like most first cases, and that both Turnabout Storyteller and the case from the prologue both had important points involving pork buns.
  • But Storyteller didn't have anything to do with pork buns? Soba and udon noodles were important, but not pork buns
    • Bean buns are important, though: they're what cause Uendo and his other personalities to pass out, revealing the fourth personality.
      • Bean buns and pork buns are made out of two VERY different ingredients.
  • I think they explicitly mentioned in an interview that T.Storyteller was meant to break the tension between Cases 3 and 5, considering both of those are substantially heavy cases. (also the whole case was created because of a Japanese pun)

The Holy Mother and Lady Kee'ra were actually the same person.
The priestess who is to play the part of Lady Kee'ra is given a booklet that lists her name in preparation for the Purification Rite, but the booklet suspiciously shows her only with a mask. The name of Holy Mother, meanwhile, is passed only from mother to daughter as a new queen takes the throne (no mention of what might happen if an assassination took place and the only person who knew the name was killed before she could pass it on). It's forbidden to depict her face as well, though the Founder's Orb does indeed depict it. Reyfa mentions that, as royal priestess and the princess in line to the throne, she must not soil herself with Kee'ra and her bloodshed, so she can never play the part. Could it possibly be, instead, that it's to keep her from ever realizing that the two names are the same? It would make sense for the Mother to have established herself with a secret identity, since she's supposed to be so forgiving and merciful and Kee'ra is instead swift and decisive: it takes both sides to rule a country in this world, but people dislike when their leaders display contradictory behavior, so compartmentalizing herself as the loving Holy Mother and vengeful Kee'ra would be an easy solution.

Paul Atishon's appearance, and specifically the style of his fringe, is a parody of former Japanese Premier Jun'ichirou Koizumi.
Koizumi remains a polarizing figure in Japanese politics, and his unusually stylish hair has been very much remarked on. For reference: Atishon and Koizumi.

The cause of Phoenix's ridiculously bad back is the hit-and-run he was the victim of in the fourth game.
There's no way anyone his age should have that bad of a back. Let alone Phoenix, who is a youthful guy, full of youthful energy, that spends his entire occupation standing over and leaning over a bench. The incident where he got hit by Merakitis's car in the fourth game seemingly caused him nothing more then a sprained ankle. This in itself is also absolutely absurd, given he flew 30 feet through the air, and head first into a telephone pole. The accident probably did a lot more damage to Phoenix then was actually thought at the time.

Ga'ran's design was based on a jorōgumo.
A jorōgumo is an evil spider youkai that poses as a beautiful woman and lures men into being her prey using her human form's beauty. Ga'ran's queen form is beautiful, but her prosecutor form is all evil spider lady.

Gaspen Payne fell victim to the DC Act and therefore was beheaded.
Gaspen Payne helped Pees'lubn Andistan'dhin; who turned out to be the murderer, the thief of the Founder's Orb, and an illegal immigrant (in the Japanese version and not the English version because this crime was Lost in Translation); during Ahlbi Ur'gaid's trial, in order to try to kill Phoenix with the DC Act. He is also not shown in the epilogue. Gaspen Payne therefore could have suffered a Karmic Death via beheading because Khura'in uses beheading for its executions.
  • Payne is referred to by Phoenix as a possible illegal immigrant in Case 3, but it's never mentioned by the other members of the cast. Whether Payne suffered for that is unknown but they don’t execute immigrants. Payne also might not have been illegal, seeing as he became Chief Prosecutor. For another, Payne only supported Pees’lubn because he didn’t realise he was he killer. The DC Act seems to focus only on the current perception of someone. If Payne kept arguing Pees’lubn was innocent after he conceded to being the killer then yes Payne would pay under the DCA. But he didn’t. Otherwise Rayfa, His Magistry, Nahyuta, Ema, and all of the police officers involved would also have to be killed because they were duped by the true killer. The DC Act, it appears, only cares about if you consciously support someone while they are viewed as a criminal. That's why defence attorneys and the Defiant Dragons are seen as criminals- both of them knowingly support criminals. Prosecutors don't knowingly support criminals, they (as we see with Nahyuta) firmly believe "the accused" is the killer. Nahyuta always states it as a given, a fact, that the defendant is the killer. They aren't defending the real criminal on purpose.
    • That argument does not work. First, Gaspen Payne supported Pees'lubn Andistan'dhin directly only during the trial. Before that time, he did not. Therefore, Rayfa and the police never had the chance to directly support the guilty. Second, when Phoenix supported Ahlbi, he was able to clear himself of supporting the guilty by proving Ahlbi innocent even though Albi was then viewed as a criminal due to the bad guilty verdict. Phoenix himself did not view Ahlbi as the criminal. The DC Act does not care about perception. It cares about who got convicted and had their convictions stick. Third, Nahyuta was not involved in that case. Fourth, the protesters' fate under the DC Act depended on whether Dhurke would be convicted or acquitted. He was viewed as a criminal at that time, but he was proven innocent and the DC Act was voided during the trial, so the protesters were exonerated both ways.
      • Actually, the DC Act does not care about any hard definition of who is culpable under it and who is not. It, as many unfair and tyrannical laws in real life (some of which yours truly got to witness), was established to help Ga'ran convict and execute her enemies more easily under the pretense of legality. Since Khura'in is an absolute monarchy, the reigning monarch is the source of the law and can pardon anyone they want. Accusing just anyone under the DC Act is a tad harder, since, again, the pretense of legality needs to be there (as we see in the final case, the true power in any country, after all, belongs to the people with guns), but not impossible, especially should the Queen point out that technically this or that person could be culpable. The only people who seem to be auto-flagged by the DC Act are defense attorneys and defendant's supporters in case of a guilty verdict, the rest hangs in the air. Tyrannical laws are often worded vaguely for this exact reason. Thus, Payne's well-being was 100% dependent on Ga'ran's mood and her assession of him. But since she was even known to pardon defense attorneys who'd begged for their lives, I'd say a bootlicker such as Gaspen was considered a useful tool to have, so my money is on him surviving (although I'm sure the New Administration will fire him the same as Edgeworth did).

The Founders’ Orb doesn’t actually bestow power.
It’s just a legend, and if it did provide any power it would be through Channeling the Holy Mother, which cannot be done unless her true name is known, and that’s not the same as being given a power boost.

Dhurke and Paul Atishon were both right about the orb... and, therefore, both wrong.
The orb was indeed revealed to be the Founder's Orb at the Civil Trial... but what's to say that the Founder isn't a certain named ancestor of Maya's, making it also The Crystal of Ami Fey?
  • Ami Fey's statue doesn't really look like the statuette of the Holy Mother. According to legend, the Fey clan served the gods. Seeing as the Holy Mother is a goddess to the people of Khura'in, it's more likely that Ami Fey was a servant of the Holy Mother who was banished from the country for sacrilege (seeing as she could perform spirit channeling).
