WMG / Contra: Operation Galuga

Go To

Operation Galuga is a reboot of the series
While said to be a "reimagining" of the original game, it does take a few liberties, such as the addition of two female characters alongside Bill and Lance, a motorcycle chase in a city, a laboratory, as well as an all-new Big Bad by the name of General Varanis.
  • Confirmed. Word of God states this is indeed a reboot of the series.

General Veranis is actually Emperor Demon Gava
If possible, they could pull a Canon Character All Along by making Veranis, the supposed Big Bad of Operation Galuga, into an alterego for Gava, who is generally the Big Bad of the franchise. Remember in the 3D pachislot game Gava also had a humanoid form.
  • Jossed. The Final Boss is actually Java, who was originally the final boss of the very first Contra, only this time you fight it similar to its successor Gava.

The Earth Federation was well aware of the situation on Galuga and may or may not have directly influenced the proliferation of Red Falcon on the island prior to Contra arriving on the island

Varanis is actually a fugitive from the aliens

The cube shown in the game's prologue may be related to the Moirai and will influence the Alien Wars in a future installment

Bradley will become a werewolf
The nickname for Bradley is "Brad", and it could be referring to Brad Fang from Contra: Hard Corps. The Brad depicted in this game is more of a bumbling Punch-Clock Villain working for Red Falcon, but if he becomes a werewolf, it could be another case of Canon Character All Along.
  • Confirmed.

Dr. Drake will become a Mad Scientist after witnessing the horrors of alien genetics

The Earth Federation is already compromised of the Triumvirate from Shattered Soldier and manipulate the events of the game to get the cube

Stanley Ironside will have some hand in making Deadeye Joe from Hard Corps

Lucia Drake will become a cyborg

The sequel will be a combination of Alien Wars and Hard Corps
  • The Stinger shows Sheena and Browny making a cameo and seeing Bradley mutating into a werewolf, which foreshadows him eventually joining the team. The game also ends with a Zagard invasion, thus setting the stage for the Alien Wars.

Jaguar will appear in the sequel
  • Jaguar was Bill Rizer's partner during the events of Neo Contra. He may also appear as Lucia's replacement much like in that game as the game ends with Lucia being labeled MIA after her Heroic Sacrifice.

The Zagard Empire is actually the Commonwealth Empire from Hard Corps: Uprising.

There will be a prequel based on Hard Corps: Uprising, detailing Bill's first foray, codename Bahamut, into combat against Zagard Empire and one of their commanders Tiberius. Lance would be an unwilling collaborator for Zagard Empire and Tiberius as their right hand man, like Leviathan in Uprising.

  • Speaking of Uprising, Harley Daniels would join Bill's forces in Operation Galuga, since he's part of Bahamut's forces in the previous game. If not, Stanley will be his substitute in the prequel.

Varanis will reappear in the sequel

Assuming he didn't perish from either succumbing to his injuries sustained in the battle aboard his ship, or when Java devoured him along with his ship. He could very much attain Joker Immunity and end up fulfilling a role similar to Axel Gear from Rocket Knight Adventures or Wild Dog from Time Crisis, at the cost of being Demoted to Dragon.

  • He could be possibly the equivalent of The Triumvirate. Which necessitate another alien race to defeat him ala Gradius or Otomedius.
