Fake World's End at 4 AM
Fake World's End at 4 AM is a visual novel created by Charon in 2023, made with TyranoBuilder.

Yuutarou is a game developer in his 30s who longs to be like his idol, a developer known by the name "Kami-sama". In order to become like her, he plagiarizes her works. One night, after making a new work, he meets a girl called Feni in a park at 4 AM. She entrusts him with a golden egg, telling him that it will hatch if he makes someone happy, and tells him a story. He visits her each night to hear more of the story, but...

This game was a rewrite of Fake World's End, an earlier game by Charon that was never completed nor translated. The game was made unavailable in 2022 as a result of RPG Atsumaru shutting down, and the rewrite was released the subsequent year. The storyline was completely rewritten, with an entirely new scenario and several new characters, past characters were heavily revamped as well, and there was also a new writer for the dream segments.

All characters from Charon works released prior to 2018 make an appearance in this.

Fake World's End contains examples of:

  • Abusive Parents: Ryujiro and Ryuichiro's. Outwardly stated to be both emotionally and physically abusive towards both.
  • Arc Words: "In a dream, at 4 AM."
  • Big Bad: Most of the events in the Fake World's End storyline are caused by Manager.* Breaking the Fourth Wall: Apparent from extremely early on, with the very first dream sequence directly referring to the player. Becomes even more apparent with the ending of the Fake World's End storyline.
  • Break Them by Talking: Manager convinces both Tenri and Ryujiro to commit suicide via just talking, and also influences Sayataka into getting into the fight that takes his life by talking as well.
  • Dream Sequence: The 4 AM dream sequences during which characters from older works appear. It's left vague in-game as to who the person dreaming is. However, the supplementary materials book reveals it to be Tarou recalling his past lives.
  • I Am Who?: Tarou, upon being told by Manager that they used to be the same person.
  • It's All My Fault:
    • Ryujiro, regarding her brother's accident.
    • Tarou, regarding his friends deaths.
    • Sayataka, regarding Shiina's death and disappearance.
    • Tenri, regarding the misfortune of those around him.
  • Killed Offscreen: Shiina and Sayataka are both killed off-screen. Downplayed, as we still get to see their final moments, just in the form of their souls instead.
  • Mid-Suicide Regret: Tenri, he begs for another chance at life moments before his death.
  • Trailers Always Spoil
    • The scene of Tenri committing suicide in the opening of the game, which also functioned as the trailer prior to release.** Ryujiro, Sayataka and Tenri's backstories are fully revealed in their introduction pages, despite being revealed much later on in the game itself.
    • Manager's character quote on his introduction page, revealing his knowledge of the world being fake.
