Traitor's Gate is a 1999 panoramic adventure game developed by Daydream Software, the same team behind Safecracker.Set within the Tower of London, it follows the story of Raven, an American special agent trying to steal and replace the Crown Jewels of England to safeguard them from a rogue operative. The player assumes the role of Raven and solves puzzles within the Tower while evading the guards. Progression through the game is nonlinear and under a time limit: the player may solve certain challenges in multiple ways, but must win before 12 hours elapse.

A sequel was released in 2003 by The Adventure Company as Traitor's Gate 2: Cypher.

Traitor's Gate contains examples of:

  • Absurdly Spacious Sewer: The waterways under the castle form a maze like layout, with multiple entrances around the area.
  • Bag of Holding: Your first task is to retrieve a backpack containing your gadgets.
  • Camera Spoofing: You can fool security cameras with your PDA's "Data Loop Unit", but only in a sixty-second window.
  • Company Cross References: Every safe in the complex was built by Crabb & Sons, with code sheets bearing their familiar letterhead.
  • Data Pad: Your arm-mounted PDA, acting as the main menu, notepad, gadget controller, compass, and more. It also erases itself should anyone remove it from your arm.
  • First-Person Snapshooter: You can take pictures of items around the environment, and your Mission Control sends back emails describing them. Though the pictures aren't retained between levels or saved games.
  • Great Big Book of Everything: Your PDA is loaded with files outlining your mission, gadgets, and every historical facet of the castle you're exploring.
  • In-Universe Game Clock: The PDA includes a slide-out real-time clock, along with timers for your gadgets.
  • Password Slot Machine: The keypad decoder card works this way.
  • Scenery Porn: Exploring a photo-realistic panoramic model of the Tower of London certainly counts, with authentic textures and locations to set the scene.
  • Schmuck Bait: At the very beginning, you are able to weld through the lock on a maintenance door. Unless you find the proper key instead, this leads to your arrest at the endgame, violating your orders to leave no trace.
