Sydney Hunter and the Sacred Tribe is a Retraux Homebrew Platform Game by Exidy, published by CollectorVision Entertainment Games for the Colecovision, Sega Master System, and Commodore 64. It is the third game in the Sydney Hunter series.

Sydney Hunter is a geologist and adventurer who was exploring the Yucatan in search of treasure. One night, while Sydney was sleeping, a mysterious tribe happened upon him, and brought him to their home. Despite insisting he's a guest among them, he's still basically a prisoner.

The game was released in 2017.

Sydney Hunter and the Sacred Tribe contains examples of:

  • Character Name and the Noun Phrase: A given with a title like "Sydney Hunter And The Sacred Tribe".
  • Game Over: Once you lose all your lives, you're treated to a black screen with "You Died" written in some purple, dripping substance.
  • Invincibility Power-Up: Collecting golden idols turns Sydney's coat and hat pink, and grants him temporary invincibility.
  • One-Hit-Point Wonder: Like the last two games, Sydney goes down with a single hit.
  • Quicksand Sucks: There are numerous quicksand pits in the game that will slowly pull Sydney down once he enters them. Sydney can escape by jumping repeatedly.
  • Retraux: Like the Sydney Hunter games before it, this one is done with 8-bit graphics and chiptune music.
  • Rule of Three: Sydney Hunter starts the game with three lives.
  • Snakes Are Sinister: There are snakes in the game that will strike at Sydney if he gets close enough.
  • Spikes of Doom: These take the form of spears, which stick up from pits, and down from ceilings.
