Final Fantasy VI: A Soldier's Contingency is an expansive ROM Hack of the Final Fantasy VI ROM hack General Leo Edition that adds lots of new content to the story, and lots of custom battle themes.

- Gau can learn rages anywhere, as Leap is accessible when not on the Veldt.
- Bushido now charges much faster than it ever did in vanilla.
- It is possible to run from the Superbosses in Kefka's Tower.
- At the Opera Tonight: In this game, the Opera is a retelling of Final Fantasy II.
- Boss-Altering Consequence: Having party members at level 99 will make the Statues of the Gods and God of Magic form of Kefka harder.
- Cast Speciation: Only Terra, Celes, Strago and Relm are able to cast magic in this hack.
- Continuity Nod: Many of the custom monsters and battle themes come from other Final Fantasy games.
- Death by Adaptation: Shadow is the one to die at Thamasa in this hack.
- The Goggles Do Nothing: Averted due to the evade bug being patched.
- Muggle: Most of the Returners are unable to cast magic in this hack.
- Permanently Missable Content: Gau's World of Balance Rages are no longer this, as the creator dislikes this trope.
- Promoted to Playable: Siegfried is now playable in the World of Ruin, replacing Gogo.
- Recursive Fanfiction: It's actually a ROM hack of the FF6 ROM hack General Leo Edition.
- Shout-Out: The battle theme that plays on board the Phantom Train is Beginning.
- Spared by the Adaptation: Like its source hack, General Leo is now a permanent party member who joins at Thamasa.
- Superboss: The World of Ruin is filled with them.
- Omega and Warmech appearing as superbosses.
- Gigantuar grants a Rage that ignores Defense upon defeating it.
- The Archbeast in Kefka's Tower is one of many new to this hack.
- Tianlong takes the place of Kaiser Dragon, and attacks 4 times a turn. Only a party close to or at Level 99 can defeat it.
