Cozy is a Point-and-Click Horror game created by Kowai Sugoi Studios. It is said by the developers to be the game to which Shiver is a Spiritual Successor.
You play as a Featureless Protagonist going to visit his uncle in the forest, just to find that his uncle's dead and he has no way out of there.
It was created for the Pixel Horror Jam 2016 and received second place.
Cozy contains examples of:
- Absurdly Short Level: The game takes about 10 minutes to complete.
- Ambiguous Situation: Next to nothing is revealed on what's going on.
- The reason for your uncle's suicide is never stated. It's revealed he was taking medication before his death, but what exactly it was isn't revealed.
- Who keeps moving stuff around? In certain shots, it looks like your uncle's corpse is alive and stalking you, but who is preventing you from leaving is never explicitly revealed.
- The ending. The identity of who's outside your car and what them catching you means is left ambiguous.
- Book Ends: The game begins and ends with a shot of you in your car.
- Dead Guy on Display: Your uncle's hanging corpse, which, by the look of it, has been there a while.
- Five-Second Foreshadowing: There's some foreshadowing that your uncle has been dead for a little while, like his water pipes being frozen.
- Hollywood Torches: The torch you light ignites the whole room when set down.
- Jump Scare: Downplayed. The game usually plays these pretty subtly.
- The shot of your dead uncle's face.
- Your dead uncle appearing in the doorway as you exit the room.
- The ending, where an unrevealed figure puts a hand on your windshield.
- Key Under the Doormat: Subverted. There is a doormat outside, but the key to the door is under a rock next to the doormat.
- Nightmare Face: Your uncle's face. The skin is peeled back and graying, the nose is gone, and one eye is missing. The face is also twisted into a look of shock and terror.
- Posthumous Character: Your uncle. He committed suicide before you visited him.
