Bronkie the Bronchiasaurus is an educational platformer game developed by WaveQuest and published by Raya Systems for The Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1995. The game is designed to teach children about asthma.

Long, long ago, meteor impacts on Earth caused clouds of dust to cover the prehistoric city of San Saurin and give all the dinosaurs asthma. The dinosaurs tried to respond by building a big Wind Machine that would blow all of the dust away, but the Big Bad Mr. Rexo stole the machine and scattered its parts through the city. Now heroes Bronkie & Trakie along with their sidekicks Sam & Kyla must get the parts to rebuild the machine.

In the game, Bronchie and Trakie must explore each level to find every piece of the wind machine all while avoiding asthma triggers such as cigarette smoke, tar, and furry animals. Getting in contact with triggers will cause them to cough which darkens the screen and making them lose when the screen goes black.

Tropes:

  • Big Bad: Mr. Rexo wants to keep the world dirty after impact from the meteors and he does so by destroying the Big Wind Machine that would have cleared the air.
  • Crapsack World: The city of San Surian has become corrupted and dirty because of Mr. Rexo's meddling in the world.
  • Interface Screw: When Bronkie & Trakie cough, the screen gradually turns blacker to simulate the "gray out" that an asthmatic may experience during an attack.
  • Minigame: In between levels, the player must play a short minigame to use their inhaler.
  • Prehistoria: The game takes place in a modernized version of a world inhabited by dinosaurs.
