Blade and Sorcery is a VR combat sandbox game developed by Warpfrog Studios. Taking place in a medieval fantasy setting where players have access to a wide variety of both weapons and devastating magic spells, the game is mostly known for its detailed physics system that allows for ludicrously gory and creative kills. Also notable is the game's large library of community-created mods, allowing players to pick up anything from lightsabers to web-slingers. It also has a spinoff, Blade and Sorcery: Nomad, for the Oculus Quest.

The game is currently in early access with a projected release date around Q4 2023.

Blade and Sorcery contains examples of:

  • Alien Sky: Subtle, but if you look far off into the night sky in the player character screen, you'll notice some kind of blue-green gas giant in the sky.
  • Dungeon Crawling: Dungeons are to be the main focus of the full game, and currently the outpost dungeon is available to explore.
  • Gorn: Thanks to the rich physics-based gameplay. Stabbing, beheading, dismemberment: you name it, B&S can do it.
  • Hot Blade: You can apply fire magic to a sword you are holding to turn it into a glowing blade that can slash and stab through even knightly plate, for instant Armor Is Useless.
  • Improvised Zipline: Many maps have ropes, and in a pinch you can zipline across them with an axe (or, really, anything that's shaped in a way that lets you hook on).
  • Instant Death Stab: Played more realistically, as stabs to specific areas, such as the head are instantly lethal. Stabs to the chest won't always kill someone instantly, and even lethal wounds to the throat or chest that incapacitate might leave them audibly dying rather than instantly dead.
  • Low Fantasy: Humans seem to be the only species. Magic exists, but it's relatively low-key. And what little plot there is consists mostly of bloody combat.
  • Off with His Head!: A very effective way of dealing with enemies.
