A Memoir Blue is a short drama game developed by Cloisters Interactive, published by Annapurna Interactive, and released in March 2022.
A young lady named Miriam hears a familiar tune on her old radio. As she sits there, the tune brings up memories both good and bad from her childhood.
Miriam soon finds herself on a journey through her past, coming to terms with her upbringing and confronting conflicting feelings about her devoted mother.
A Memoir Blue contains examples of the following tropes:
- Daddy Didn't Show: The core conflict is Miriam's mother just not having the time to attend her swim meets.
- Forgiveness: The game's general concept. Miriam realizes her mother was doing her best, and apologizes for how she acted as an angsty teenager.
- No-Dialogue Episode: The game is entirely without spoken dialogue. The only lines spoken are unintelligible due to Miriam's memories placing them underwater, although Miriam appears to say "Mom, I'm sorry."
- Non-Standard Character Design: The memories Miriam experiences are animated like a moving storybook, while Miriam is rendered with Unity. Near the end of the game when Miriam finally forgives her mother, she becomes animated like the flashbacks.
- Second Place Is for Losers: The game opens with Miriam receiving a bronze medal. She is clearly not thrilled about it.
