Trivia / Young Indiana Jones And The Espionage Escapades

Go To

  • Directed by Cast Member: Terry Jones, who plays Marcello in the Barcelona episode, also directed it.
  • Fake Nationality: All over the place.
    • Sergei Diaghilev (Russian) is played by William Hootkins (American).
    • Nadia Kamenevsky (American pretending to be Russian) is played by Amanda Ooms (Swedish).
    • The various British actors really go to town here. Marcello (Italian) is played by Terry Jones — with an over-the-top Italian accent that's very much Played for Laughs, in keeping with the Lighter and Softer tone of the episode. Charles (French) is played by Charles McKeown with a similar stab at a French accent. Picasso (Spanish) is played by Danny Webb. Schmidt (German, or maybe American pretending to be German) is played by Kenneth Cranham. The Count of Toledo is played by David Hatton. The Count of Toledo's chauffeur (Spanish, presumably) is played by Harry Enfield. Delfina (Spanish, presumably) is played by Liz Smith. Clouseau (French) is played by Nickolas Grace. Anton, named in the credits as "Very Fat Man" (Czech) is played by Bernard Bresslaw. And, of course, Franz Kafka (German-speaking Czech), is played by Tim McInnerny.
  • Playing Against Type: Timothy Spall, usually an actor known for working-class roles, plays the apparently upper-class Cunningham.
  • You Look Familiar: Sergei Diaghilev is played by William Hootkins, who previously appeared in Raiders of the Lost Ark as Major Eaton, one of the US government officers who hires Indy to recover the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis can, and who later brushes Marcus Brody off by assuring him that "top men" are researching the Ark.
