Trivia / Yokoka's Quest

Go To

  • Creator's Favorite: The author doesn't hide the fact that Copycat is their favourite character. Fortunately, the annual popularity polls have made clear that he is a fan favourite too.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: For chapters 13-14, the author asked readers to submit their fan characters. Many have appeared in background roles throughout the village and as competitors in The Big Race.
  • Sequel First: The original Yokoka's Quest comic was written to completion but never published. A sequel named Enter The Combat Zone (usually shortened to ETCZ) was published from 2009-2013 in Kyowa Quebec, a French language manga-inspired anthology local to the Montreal area; this anthology concluded publication while ETCZ was still in its prologue. The full English language prologue later had a small print run and could be read online, until it was removed in 2019 for containing spoilers to Yokoka's Quest. As the current run of Yokoka's Quest is a rewrite, some of the lore and events of ETCZ no longer fit its established canon.
  • Word of Gay: The monthly wallpaper for Pride Month 2020 features some of the cast wearing pride-themed accessories and a background featuring a prominent rainbow, and for Pride Month 2022 features even more of the cast sat on pride-themed cushions inside a Blanket Fort. Some of these sexualities and gender identities are brought up in the comic itself but many are not.
    • Yokoka: Bisexual.
    • Yfa: Asexual / Aromantic.
    • Grace: Asexual / Aromantic. She has stated that she's not really interested in dating either boys or girls in the comic.
    • Mao: Gay.
    • Kalliv: Nonbinary (with the implication that he may not have realised or come out yet - he's present in the 2020 wallpaper without a pride accessory, and in the 2022 wallpaper near a vacant nonbinary pride cushion).
    • Copycat: Intersex (as listed on his Cast page entry) and gay. He has stated his preference for pretty boys in the comic.
    • Vivi: Transgender male.
    • Fahrin: Lesbian. She has stated her preference for hot chicks who can kick her ass in the comic.
    • Bae: Lesbian.
    • Sheena: Pansexual.
    • Nathan: Pansexual.
    • Primrose: Transgender male. He is identified as such by the author in a twitter post.
    • Sliv: Genderfluid (as listed on their Cast page entry).
